Dr. Cassandra Veney is Executive Director of the HILLS Program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. She previously served as Professor and Chair of the Department of International Relations at the United States International University-Africa, Nairobi, Kenya. She joined USIU in 2016. Prior to joining USIU, she was Professor of Political Science at Quinnipiac University. Professor Veney has a Ph.D in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her areas of research and scholarship include: forced migration in Eastern Africa, US-Africa Relations, and US immigration and refugee policies toward African and African descended people. During her tenure at Quinnipiac University, Dr. Veney met the CEO & Founder and was quite impressed with her journey to impact the lives of today's youths and families. Given her work with first year students at Quinnipiac University, Dr. Veney became interested in assisting to further the mission of the organization in hopes of helping them to achieve their desired outcomes. She is married to Professor Paul Tiyambe Zeleza, former Vice President of Academic Affairs at Quinnipiac University.
