Focus of research at the Chair of Plant Physiology at the University of Osnabrück is the biological relevance and molecular function of a highly specialized protein modification pathway called the N-degron pathway. It is part of the Ubiquitin proteasome system and can lead to rapid degradation of target proteins from the living cell and by this abolishing the same time. This indicates an important function in protein quality control, protein homeostasis, and general development throughout the kingdoms of life...
