Dr. Amy Lutgen

Dr. Amy Lutgen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. She has been with Eastside Animal Hospital since her graduation in 2005. One of Dr. Lutgen's favorite parts of veterinary medicine is seeing the amazing bond people have with their animals and helping people keep their animals healthy so that they can enjoy each other's companionship for as long as possible. She also enjoys dentistry and educating people on the importance of dental health in their pets. Outside of work, Dr. Lutgen enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, Kendall and Brielle. They enjoy traveling together, reading books, and hiking with their three dogs. She and her family welcomed the addition of a baby boy in the spring of 2017.

Dr. Andrea Crum

Originally from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Andrea decided to become a veterinarian at the young age of five years old. After graduating from high school, she obtained a Biochemistry degree from Western Kentucky University, continued her education at Auburn University, and in 2008, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Andrea has developed an appreciation for all aspects of veterinary medicine but has a particular interest in internal medicine and instituting the most up to date advanced care possible. She is amazed by the human-animal bond and is grateful to be a part of keeping that bond strong as long as possible. Andrea now lives in Sellersburg, Indiana with her husband, Ryan, her daughter, Claire, and son, Malcolm. Her furry family members include Emmit, a 13-year-old terrier mix, and Milhouse, an 8-year-old Yorkipoo, and recently an adopted beautiful beagle Jolene. In her spare time, Andrea loves spending time with her family.

Dr. Frances Dungan

Dr. Frances Dungan grew up in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. After earning a degree from the University of Kentucky, she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University. One of Dr. Dungan's favorite aspects of veterinary medicine is educating clients on how to best care for their pet. It's this passion that makes her a perfect fit for Eastside Animal Hospital. Dr. Dungan has a special interest in companion animal dentistry and dermatology. Dr. Dungan is part of the Dermatology Speaker's Bureau and travels locally to educate other veterinarians on how to successfully help furry friends who have skin problems. Dr. Dungan lives in Louisville with her husband, Bryant, and their canine friend, Jerome. Outside of work, she enjoys playing tennis, cooking, and hiking.

Dr. Kaitlin Redmon

Dr. Kaitlin Redmon was raised in Louisville, KY, and she received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Hanover College. She graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 2014. Afterwards, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine at BluePearl in Louisville before entering general practice. She enjoys internal medicine, and she is especially passionate about feline medicine. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Tommy, and together they share a daughter, Daphne, two Great Pyrenees mixes, Finnegan and Echo, and three cats, Ingrid, Ivan the Terrible, and Erik the Red. In her spare time she loves reading science fiction, cooking, and practicing yoga.

Dr. Laura Strong

Dr. Laura Strong has always had a passion for the care and companionship of animals. When she was in the 6 th grade, she decided to become a veterinarian, and with the support and encouragement from her family, she pursued that dream. Dr. Strong fell in love with the Eastside community when she began working at the hospital during her high school years. She graduated from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. In 1988, she joined the practice and her uncle, founding veterinarian James E. Howard, DVM. As the past medical director and visionary for Eastside Animal Hospital, Dr. Strong's goal for Eastside was to create a space where lives were made better for pets, people, and team members. Her loves (outside the practice) include spending time with her husband, David, their son and daughter in law, Michael and Caroline, and daughter, Sarah. Her animal companions are faithful Doberman Argo, Whippet Sonni, Dachshund Jaco, fearless feline-friend One, and horses Harley, Rocket, and Stuart. Grand-dog Olive and grand-cat Hendrix are very much enjoyed too!

Dr. Mallory Crafton

Dr. Mallory Crafton was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Her mother was a veterinary technician and she knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age. After receiving degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Louisville, she went to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her special medical interests include cardiology and ophthalmology. Having a background in psychology also makes her passionate about the human-animal bond. When not at work, Dr. Crafton enjoys cooking, hiking, kayaking, and fishing. She shares her home with a three legged dog named Houser, as well as two cats, Jake and Mercury.

Dr. Piper Hays

Dr. Hays grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. After finishing undergraduate school at the University of Arizona, she moved to the Midwest to attend Purdue University School of Medicine. She completed veterinary school in May 1995 and started at Eastside in June 1995. Aspects of veterinary medicine that are of special interest to Dr. Hays include feline and canine geriatric medicine, force-free behavior/training, and integrative methods for pain management and mobility. Most recently, she has completed certification in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy for dogs and horses and become a member of the College of Animal Chiropractic. Outside of work, Dr. Hays trains and competes in agility with her own dogs, enjoys flower gardening, birding, crocheting, sewing, and other crafty things. Currently, she and husband Gary have five dogs, seven cats, and one very old rooster.

Dr. Sarah Kaiser

Dr. Sarah Shea Gatewood was born and raised in Frankfort, KY. She has loved animals and insects ever since she could first walk. After completing a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Kentucky, she attended Auburn University for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. For her, the best part of being a veterinarian is helping people by caring for their pets. She believes it is important to practice with compassion and integrity to help those animals who cannot speak for themselves. Her particular passion lies in ultrasonography and soft tissue surgery. When she is not working, she loves spending time outdoors and hanging with her golden retriever, Bentley, and her family. Her other leisurely activities include riding horses, reading, wakeboarding, and surfing.

Jennifer Easterling

Jennifer comes to us from Elizabethtown, KY-and yes, the drive is worth it! Although born and raised in Frankfort, KY, she has traveled across the United States helping animals as well as people from all over the world while working for the United States Army. Once settled back in the E-town area, she went back to school for her BA in Psychology and Biology, graduating with honors in 2013. Her favorite thing about her job is being able to help the animals and thereby helping their humans. She believes, "the human-animal bond is a powerful thing to witness, and I am honored to be a part of it." Outside of work, Jen's time is spent with family and friends both four-legged and two-legged. Her family includes her son, Nathan, two dogs, Fynn and Jodi, and two cats, Cheeto and Dax. In her free time, she works with local rescue organizations, spends time on the water with friends, travels, and watches sports.
