Charles E. "Chuck" Ramsey Charles

Charles E. "Chuck" Ramsey Charles E. "Chuck" Ramsey, age 82, of Erie, peacefully passed away July 12, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 4, 1941, in Nanty Glo, PA, the son of the late Charles E. Ramsey and Vivian (Thompson) Betzner. Chuck was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and went on to serve in the US Navy as a radio communicator. Upon completion of his service, he attended Edinboro University (BS) and Seton Hall (MS). Chuck was a lifelong teacher, spending most of his career at East High School, where he taught mathematics. Upon retirement he continued to teach mathematics part-time at Edinboro University, Penn State-Behrend, and Gannon University. Chuck enjoyed golfing and bowling, as well as watching many sports, especially boxing and baseball. Many fond memories were made loading up the car and traveling to watch the Indians, Pirates, Tigers and Cubs. He also enjoyed visiting the peninsula for swimming, walking, sunsets and Sara's. He spent years volunteering as a Boy Scout leader, coached bowling and Academic Sports League and later became a member of Parkinson's Partners. He was an active member of the Delaware Avenue Baptist Church. Most of all, Chuck enjoyed spending time with family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Linda (Carr), his children: Steven Ramsey (Susan) of Erie, Scott Ramsey (Tracy) of Northbridge, MA, Charles "Chip" Ramsey (Claire) of Solihull, UK, Daniel Ramsey (Brianna) of Leominster, MA, Katherine Heenan (Kregg) of Erie, Bethany McCormick (Bryan) of Munhall, PA, one sister Janet Mariani, eleven grandchildren: Morgan, Rachel, Teagan, Annoel, Nico, Gino, Fiona, Matthew, Grant, Ethan, Vivien, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 10 am for the Funeral Service. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery, Cranesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Partners of NWPA, PO Box 10547, Erie, PA 16514, or to the Delaware Avenue Baptist Church, 822 Delaware Ave., Erie, PA 16505. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers that provided the loving care to Chuck, especially to Kristie Luden and the UPMC Hospice Services.

Jack Martin

Jack Martin is a Millcreek native growing up a mile from the current location of Dusckas-Martin FH. He attended McDowell HS and graduated from there in 1971. He attended Thiel College in Greenville, PA where he received a BA degree in psychology and a minor in education. He taught public school education in Millcreek Twp. School District for 12 years. He obtained his MS degree in Counseling in 1980 from Gannon University. Jack entered the field of higher education administration when he accepted the position of Director of Development at Gannon University in 1989. He traveled extensively as a fundraiser. In 1994 he accepted the position of Vice President of advancement at Edinboro University until his enrollment at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1996. He graduated with honors and began working with his wife's cousin, Nancy Dusckas. Jack was familiar with the mortuary field since he did work part-time for the founder of Dusckas Funeral Home, Gus Dusckas, during his teaching days in Millcreek. Jack always realized he would someday enter the mortuary field. Since then he has finished all course work and comps for his doctoral degree. "This is my life's calling and my ministry work which God called me to enter back in 1996.

Karen Dusckas Martin

Karen is Jack's wife and the Office Manager at DMFH. Jack and Karen graduated from high school together (McDowell) in 1971. Karen attended The College of Wooster, Ohio and graduated in 1975 with a B.A. in Speech Pathology/Elementary Education. She taught elementary education in the Millcreek Township School District for 12 years, retiring in June of 1987 to raise a family.

Laureen Marie Hasbrouck

Laureen Marie Hasbrouck Laureen Marie Hasbrouck, age 58, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Erie, PA, on October 11, 1964, the daughter of Lawrence and Elizabeth Pratt Hasbrouck. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Floyd and Dorothy Hasbrouck and Barbara J. Pratt. Laureen was a 1983 graduate of Mercyhurst Prep H.S. and a 1985 graduate of Villa Maria College with a degree in Nursing. She was a nurse for 36 years. She enjoyed planting flower pots, reading, and spending time with her family and life-time friends whom she couldn't thank enough for their unending support and love. Laureen is survived by her beloved husband James Kovacic, two sons; David C. Stromenger (Amanda), Andrew L. Stromenger (Kaylie), two grandchildren; Isabella Grace Stromenger, Jonathan Trujillo, one brother Larry Hasbrouck (Jamie), one niece Raeanne Hasbrouck, and special friends: Diane Brace, Debbie Montefiori, Mary Beth Nawrocki, Julianne Fottz, and Mary T. McDermott. A special thank you goes out to the Hillman Cancer Center, Dr. Seastone, and the UPMC staff on 6 Main, the IR Dept., and UPMC Hospice. Mark Edwin Mioduszewski

Mark Edwin Mioduszewski Mark Edwin Mioduszewski, age 69, of Erie, passed away at home on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Mark was born in Erie, PA on May 12, 1954 to Gertrude Rutkowski Mioduszewski of Erie and the late Edwin Mioduszewski. He graduated from Iroquois H.S., Gannon University with a BA in Political Science, and the University of Pittsburgh with a Juris Doctor in Law. Mark worked as an attorney practicing primarily in civil litigation. He began his career at Knox McLaughlin Gornall and Sennett in Erie, where he became a partner, and then founded the firm of Marnen Mioduszewski Bordonaro Wagner and Sinnott prior to his retirement in 2021. During his time as a practicing attorney, Mark was selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer countless times, served on the disciplinary board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and was rated preeminent (AV) by his peers in the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory. He authored legal texts in civil liability and was admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States District Court of the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mark was a devoted father to his children; John, of Pittsburgh, PA and Kathryn, of Chicago, IL, and never missed a hockey game, swim meet, dance performance, or piano recital. Mark was an avid "car guy" with a special love for Porsches sharing this passion with his children by taking them to Porsche rallies. Mark also passed along his love for rock and roll music and classic movies (including Pulp Fiction, Caddyshack, and the National Lampoon Vacations series) all of which his children can recite verbatim. Mark undertook many leadership and volunteer roles in the passions his children pursed including: serving as the President of Erie Youth Hockey Association for three years, a member of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League for two years, and President of the Villa Maria Advisory Board. Mark is also survived by his mother, Gertrude (Rutkowski) of Erie; and his sisters; Judith of Erie and Barbara Priestap (husband Michael) of Waterford, and his girlfriend Julie Morris of Oil City. He was preceded in death by his father Edwin Mioduszewski of Erie. Viewing will be held at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, September 1, 2023 (today) from 3 pm until 7 pm followed by a service at 7 pm. A graveside burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3325 West Lake Rd., Erie, PA 16505 on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 1 pm. Memorials in Mark's name can be made to Erie Youth Hockey Association at 1880 Pinewood Drive, Fairview, PA 16415.

Nancy E. Dusckas

Nancy E. Dusckas took over the reins of her dad, Gus Dusckas when he passed away in 1988. Nancy has an extensive background in social work, counseling and psychology. She attended and graduated from Taylor University in Indiana in 1975 and obtained her Masters degree from Gannon University in Counseling. Nancy is also a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. She has received numerous awards in the field of business leadership, women's leadership, etc.

Nicole Rae Woomer

Nicole Rae Miller Woomer Nicole Rae Woomer, age 41, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at UPMC-Hamot after a courageous four- year battle with cancer. She was born in Warren, PA on February 7, 1982, the daughter of James "Butch" Miller and Penny and Brian Gresh. Nicole was a teacher in the Ft. LeBoeuf School District and was also employed as a Plexus Ambassador. Nicole was a member of Abiding Hope Lutheran Church. She enjoyed family time, the outdoors, camping, kayaking, biking, hiking, quilting, cooking, reading, and playing cards and board games. Nicole is survived by her beloved husband Brett Woomer, two children; Sophia and Miles Woomer, two sisters; Kayla Miller (Emily, Nicole's niece), and Debbie Fitzgerald (Tyler, Nicole's nephew and Mariah, Nicole's niece), and many other nieces and nephews.
