Chris is a civil litigation practitioner in state and federal courts. He has represented clients in complex business litigation and class actions, including representation of Fortune 500 companies. Chris has also prosecuted and defended products liability and premises liability cases, and he has defended insurers in declaratory judgment actions. Furthermore, Chris has significant experience in defending professional liability actions. Moreover, Chris has litigated a wide variety of cases involving real estate matters, including road access, easements and title disputes. Chris has represented and advised clients involved in highly sensitive matters, some of which were the subject of intense public scrutiny. In addition to his trial work, Chris has argued before the Tennessee Court of Appeals, the Tennessee Supreme Court, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Chris is also a member of the C.J.A. Panel for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee and has represented clients in criminal matters in both state and federal court.

Mark D. Hackett

Mark practices extensively in the life sciences area, representing start-up and development stage companies that develop and manufacture pharmaceutical and biotechnology products, diagnostics, and medical devices. Mark has handled a wide range of life science matters, including the formation of various strategic alliances and joint ventures, in-licensing and out-licensing of technology, clinical trial contracting, business planning and financing, FDA regulatory work, manufacturing and distribution contracting, and intellectual property strategy. He serves as General Counsel to a biopharmaceutical and medical device company specializing in pregnancy health, which he helped form and establish. In addition to his law practice, Mark is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Solas BioVentures, a venture capital firm located in Chattanooga that invests in biotech and medical device companies throughout the U.S.

Maury Nicely

Maury Nicely concentrates his practice in the areas of employment litigation, labor law, and general business litigation. He has addressed issues pertaining to all areas of labor and employment law in order to assist clients in preparing and maintaining employee records, making proactive decisions to prevent workplace issues from arising, and addressing formal complaints if and when they arise. He has represented clients in defending against a wide variety of lawsuits brought in both federal and state courts, claims for unemployment compensation, and complaints filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and corresponding state agencies. Maury has prepared contractual agreements and documents associated with a broad range of employment decisions, including employment contracts, separation agreements, non-competition and confidentiality agreements, and programs for alternative methods of dispute resolution (ADR) in the workplace. He has also drafted employment policies and procedures for a wide range of clients, from small start-up businesses to established, multinational employers. Maury has also advised clients on a broad range of issues related to traditional labor law, including union organizing campaigns, the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the grievance and arbitration process, and claims filed with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Maury has also represented clients in a wide array of general business litigation matters, including complex business issues and class action cases, at both the trial and appellate level. Maury has presented client seminars on a wide variety of topics, including workplace discrimination and harassment, the Family and Medical Act (FMLA), identity theft, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), workplace violence, employee relations, and the creation of employee handbooks and policies. Paige T. Walter

Paige is the newest Associate at Evans Harrison Hackett, having just passed the Tennessee Bar recently. After working as a Guardian ad Litem volunteer during her undergraduate years, Paige discovered a passion for the law and for serving others. In law school, Paige represented battered persons while working for the University of Georgia's Jane W. Wilson Family Justice Clinic. She also spent time interning with Guardian ad Litem Attorneys in the juvenile court system. After her first year of law school, Paige worked as a summer clerk for the Honorable William T. Moore, U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of Georgia, in 2020. She also enjoyed working on the executive board of the Family Law Society and being a member of the Christian Legal Society. Paige spent her final semester of law school working for the City Attorney for the City of Chattanooga. In this position, Paige gained an additional passion for municipal law. Her time at the City Attorney's office educated her in the sectors of: employment/labor law, civil rights, governmental torts, environmental/water law, zoning, land use, and contract negotiation. She looks forward to engaging in pro bono work to benefit the local Chattanooga community and is particularly excited about working with the Family Justice Center.

Scott M. Shaw

Scott's practice focuses primarily on business-based and property-related litigation at the state and federal levels. Scott represents a number of local, regional and national shopping center developers with regard to litigation and bankruptcy matters. Scott also has extensive experience litigating a variety of commercial and general civil matters. He has also represented creditors in current national bankruptcies of major retailers. Scott has also developed a niche practice around the commercial operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. As this cutting-edge area of the law continues to develop, Scott advises clients on their proposed operation of drone vehicles, the regulations imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration, and the interaction of those regulations with existing state law. Scott has handled bench and jury trials in Tennessee and Georgia at the state and federal levels, and has successfully presented appeals in both the state appellate courts and federal circuit courts of appeal.

Timothy L. Mickel

Over his career, Tim Mickel has represented a diverse spectrum of individual and corporate clients in contract and commercial litigation, construction law, insurance law, health care litigation, products liability and tort litigation, employment law and other areas. He has represented a number of national and regional banks and financial institutions in complex special assets work, commercial litigation and lender liability matters. Tim has also represented national insurers in both Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and contractual coverage disputes involving group disability and credit life and disability insurance policies. Tim's experience also includes representing manufacturing clients in claims involving toxic torts and alleged exposure to asbestos and other toxic substances. He has represented these same types of clients at both the trial and appellate levels. While a significant portion of his practice has been devoted to litigation, Tim's experience and talent are much broader. He has a vast background in representing product manufacturers, including the negotiation of purchase and sale and other related agreements. He has also advised clients with respect to consumer and commercial warranty issues. He also has counseled clients in respect to construction contracts and other agreements related to site development and improvement.
