Amanda Carlson

Originally from Kentucky, Amanda received a BA in Chemistry from Carroll College, where she also minored in Biology. A member of the Energy Laboratories team since 2004, she now oversees the QA program, assuring that the lab maintains its certifications. She also manages the Inorganics Department and serves as an organics analyst. She was key in the development of methodologies for thermal desorption air analysis and matrices for VOC's in soil, water and air. Amanda loves living in Helena because of its sense of community. An animal lover, she volunteers with the local shelter, where she helps to organize spay and neuter clinics.

Bill Brown

A graduate of Montana State University, Bill attended Eastern Montana College to complete additional coursework in Organic Chemistry and Analytical Instrumentation. He joined Energy Laboratories after completing two years as a fisheries biologist in the Peace Corps. As president, Bill is committed to not only ensuring the company continues to provide outstanding analytical results, but also exceptional client service. In addition to his administrative duties, he remains a valuable part of the scientific team at Energy Laboratories. When not working, Bill is actively involved in volunteerism and spends time with friends and family enjoying all that Big Sky Country has to offer.

Bret Burris

Like many Energy Laboratories team members, Bret has been with the company more than a decade. A Montana native, he has earned his Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) certification from the HR Certification Institute and has completed additional courses in both human resources and accounting.

Cindy Rohrer - VP

Cindy's role is to ensure that quality data is produced in a timely manner with excellent customer service, and it's a role she takes seriously. She excels in communicating with her team and keeping projects moving forward. She is a graduate of Rocky Mountain College, having earned a BS in Chemistry, and has been a part of the Energy Laboratories team since 2000. Outside of the office, Cindy loves embarking on outdoor adventures with her family, including camping, fishing and kayaking.

Donny Juarez

Job Titles:
  • Casper Quality Assurance Officer
Donny joined Energy Laboratories in 1995 as a sample custodian and has spent the years since honing his technical skill and proficiency in all of ELI Casper's analytical departments. Since June of 2014 he has held the position of Branch Quality Assurance Officer where he maintains the laboratory quality systems. His responsibilities as the QA Officer include; maintaining laboratory certifications, managing performance evaluation studies, providing assistance to personnel on quality assurance issues, managing a quality assurance training program, and maintaining all quality assurance compliance documentation. Further, as part of Casper's Management Team he assists the Branch Manager and Technical Director with process and procedure development and implementation. Donny received his AS in Chemistry from Casper College. In addition to being a Wyoming native, Donny enjoys home improvement projects and motorcycle restoration.

Dr. Chrystal Sheaff

Dr. Chrystal Sheaff joined Energy Laboratories in 2012 as a chemist in the Organics department and later became the Organics and Semi-Volatiles Supervisor. In 2016 she became the Branch Manager and currently supervises the Organics and Radiochemistry department. Dr. Chrystal Sheaff also serves as the Technical Director, is a Certified Radiation Officer and member of the NELEC Radiation Expert Committee. Prior to joining Energy Laboratories Dr. Sheaff worked as a Scientist at Alturas Analytics where she performed method development, method validation, and sample analysis for bioassay analysis. Dr. Sheaff received her Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from Black Hills State University and her Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Idaho.

Greg Waring

Greg is responsible for providing the successful development and operation of all Energy Laboratory hardware and software systems. His team ensures that all electronic records, results and other data is stored securely and that our staff members have the resources needed to complete their work. Before joining Energy Laboratories, Greg worked with Fortune 500 companies in IT Management roles for over 14 years. He earned a BS in Computer Science from Montana Tech of the University of Montana, where he also minored in Business Management. A native of Montana, he is an active outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, skiing, rafting and hunting.

John Holst

John joined Energy Laboratories in 2013 as a Client Support Representative in the Billings office. Having previously been a client of Energy Laboratories, he has a unique understanding of customer needs and is committed to ensuring client satisfaction. A Montana native, John is a US Army veteran and a graduate of the University of Montana. He is a high school sports fan, and enjoys cheering on his two daughters. Mountain biking, backpacking, cross-country skiing and river floating are other hobbies he enjoys.

Jonathan Hager - President

Jonathan began his career at Energy Laboratories in 2000, working as a lab technician while attending Carroll College. After receiving his BA in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, he joined the staff full-time. Today he not only works as an Laboratory Manager, he also supervises the Organic Department, reviewing reports, performing analyses and assisting clients.Science has always fascinated Jonathan; in fact, he had the opportunity to attend the month-long National Youth Science Camp in West Virginia prior to attending college. He also enjoys the time he can spend outdoors with his wife and sons, camping, boating and golfing.

Julie Weisz

After earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Molecular Biology and Zoology/Physiology, Julie worked as a researcher at the University of Utah. She joined Energy Laboratories in 2009. She not only maintains quality systems for the Gillette branch, she also validates all inorganic and micro data as well as helping with technical proofing. She is a native of Wyoming.

Leigh Ann Wise

As the Billings Quality Assurance Officer, Leigh Ann has 19 years of experience in the Organics department as the foundation for her knowledge of analytical procedures. Leigh Ann takes pride in ensuring the highest quality standards are in place at ELI in both quality systems and during the technical review of reports. She is a graduate of MSU Billings with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Chemistry and Biology, and has been a part of Energy Laboratories since 2000. Leigh Ann has always been interested in science from a young age spending hours studying insects and animals to growing up to teach biology, chemistry and math to Veterans through MSU Billings Veterans Upward Bound program. As a native of Montana, she enjoys boating, camping, fishing and four-wheeling with her son. They share an interest in Paleontology and enjoy researching and studying the evolution of reptiles in their spare time.

Lisa Bradley

Laboratories since 1997, Lisa works with lab managers throughout the company with issues relating to communication, management, strategy, training and innovation. A native of Bozeman, she is a graduate of Montana State University and received a PhD in analytical chemistry from Indiana University. Before deciding on a career in chemistry, Lisa briefly majored in piano performance and still enjoys listening to music. She also loves to travel not only throughout Montana, but also around the world. To date, she has traveled to more than 20 countries.

Misty Stephens

As a native of Wyoming, she understands and specializes in helping oilfield clients with Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WYDEQ) and Wyoming Oil and Gas (WOGCC) requirements. When not reporting, fulfilling bottle orders, and building quotes, she is the Crude Oil analyst for Energy Laboratories. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, crafting, hanging out with her lazy English bulldogs, or riding ATCs in the Black Hills.

Skyler Pester

Skyler says that he considers himself lucky to have been able to begin his career in Helena while attending Carroll College, as he enjoys the city and its surrounding area. He received his B.A. from Carroll, having majored in Chemistry and minored in Biology and Business Administration. Today his responsibilities include processing and analyzing soil samples as well as helping to promote a positive and efficient work environment throughout the Helena office. In his off hours Skyler loves nothing more than spending time outdoors; in fact, he once enjoyed a Peruvian adventure during which he captured a juvenile Anaconda. In the States, his high-energy exploits include biking, fishing, hiking and diving. He is an active member of Lewis and Clark Search & Rescue.

Tracy A. Dangerfield - CFO, Treasurer

While many don't choose a profession until college, Tracy knew that she wanted to be an accountant from the time she was in second grade. She has been a licensed CPA since 1992 and earned her MBA in 2013. As CFO, she is not only responsible for the company's fiscal status, but also manages and leads multiple administrative departments within the company. She also loves to garden and travels whenever she can.

Wanda Johnson

When your important samples are delivered to the Helena laboratory, they will be in Wanda's experienced and capable hands. She is responsible for logging in each sample, fulfilling client bottle orders and transmitting samples and invoices. Originally from North Dakota, Wanda has worked with Energy Laboratories since 2003. After hours, Wanda is active in her church community and welcomes the chance to spend time with her family enjoying outdoor activities. She jokes that when she planned her wedding, she and her husband had to choose between being married on the first day of bird hunting season or the first day of big game hunting season. (No bird hunting for the couple that year.)
