Alan Dick

Andrew Knowles

With over 40 years' experience working in intellectual property, Andrew has been involved in numerous trade mark and design cases both in prosecution and litigation. His current practice includes working with clients on trade marks, copyright, design and patents. He is member of IPSANZ, (the Intellectual Property Society of Australia & New Zealand), and a registered trans- Tasman Patent Attorney.

Beppie Holm

Beppie Holm, is one of the founding partners and board members of WNT Ventures, a Callaghan Innovation funded tech incubator, and a founding shareholder and Chair of RAM 3D, a Tauranga based company which provides commercial 3D printing services. Beppie is a member of the Acorn Foundation Investment Advisory Committee, a member of the Institute of Directors and a Red Cross volunteer. More recently she became Chair of Roholm Ltd and a Director of Purpose Capital Limited. Beppie's career has included working with BP in New Zealand in senior communications and external relations management roles for 14 years followed by 10 years working in HR with BP in Japan, South East Asia and Angola to support the development of local personnel for new businesses. After returning to New Zealand in 2009, she worked at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in business development and project management roles for four years. Beppie has served on the EA Board since the 2015 AGM. "I am passionate about supporting start-ups and love the rigor of due diligence and the perspective that other Angels bring to each investment opportunity."

Bill Murphy - Chairman

Meet Bill. A qualified accountant from Boston, with over 30 years' commercial business experience, in 2008 Bill founded Enterprise Angels - New Zealand's largest angel group - helping raise over $40m for start-up businesses. Bill is now helping establish ‘impact' investing. He founded New Zealand's largest impact investing fund to date, Purpose Capital. Purpose Capital is a collaboration between the New Zealand commercial and philanthropic sectors investing to drive social and environmental change in New Zealand. Brian Bilas

Brian is a former Chief Executive and current Chartered Accountant (retiring as a member in 2021) with more than 40 years business experience, both in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. He has held positions in a broad range of industries including terms as Chief Executive of three companies - Satara Co-operative Group Limited, RD1 Limited, Reid Farmers Limited, and roles as General Manager Commercial, Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary for Forestry Corporation of New Zealand Limited. He also served nearly 10 years in various senior functional and general management positions within Fletcher Challenge Limited including Finance Director, Wrightson NMA Limited and General Manager Challenge Wool Limited. In recent years (until 2019) he owned and operated his own Chartered Accounting practice. This latter experience increased his interest in entrepreneurship and led to his membership of Enterprise Angels.

Colin Groves

Meet Colin. Colin has spent the past 25 years primarily as Director of M&A at Tetra Laval, one of the world's largest private company and maker of the renowned Tetra Pak packaging solutions and DeLaval milk processing machinery. He has also held roles at Informix Software and US healthcare multinational Johnson & Johnson. A chartered accountant and former English schools & colts rugby international. Colin is an entrepreneurial business strategist, marketer and investor, who holds various directorships and advisory roles. A passionate out of the box thinker, originally from Cornwall, who has a real understanding for the early stage and start-up businesses.

David Thompson

David is a chartered accountant by training and worked as a business advisor across a range of industries during a 25 year career, before retiring to Tauranga in 2018. He has been based in the UK, US, Canada, Hong Kong and Bermuda, often with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, including advising on company and asset valuations. David has also specialised in legal and regulatory advice, leading global teams for accountancy firms PwC and KPMG.

Hadleigh Ford

Hadleigh Ford is the founder and CEO of SwipedOn, a leading visitor management solution and former EA investee company. SwipedOn is used in 7,000 locations, in 74 countries globally. In 2018 SwipedOn was acquired by UK listed SmartSpace Software. Hadleigh has stayed on as CEO under the public company and has been an active member of EA after the exit. He is also a Master Mariner and former Harbour Pilot with a seagoing career spanning over 17 years

Ian Greaves - Chairman

Ian Greaves has been involved in the kiwifruit industry since completing his degree at Massey, Palmerston North. Working his way up through the ranks from field rep to the Post Harvest industry as General Manager of Seeka Kiwifruit Industries Ltd and then into political and governance roles. He is a retired director of Kiwifruit New Zealand - the industry regulator which he served on for 15 years, and retired chairman of Seeka Growers Limited. During the kiwifruit Psa outbreak, Ian was the national recovery manager under the Adverse Event as well as consulting to Kiwifruit Vine Health which coordinated the industry response to the disease. In 2020 the Kiwifruit Industry honoured him with their highest award - the Hayward Medal. Outside of work, in India, Ian and his wife have undertaken charity work for a decade funding and established micro-enterprises that employ people out of poverty. Ian is Chairman and Trustee of The Life Foundation charitable trust operating a children's home that also takes in abandoned babies in India. He has been an investor in and Chairman of a large scale South Island dairy farm, is an Angel investor and part of the NZ Shareholders Assn.

Kelly Taylor

Kelly has a strong background in administration and not-for-profit organisations having spent the bulk of her career to date in this sector. After 15 years in Auckland and the Horowhenua district Kelly returned home to Tauranga with her family in 2017 and commenced working at Enterprise Angels in 2018. Kelly ensures the team and members are well supported with her resourceful, innovative and proactive attitude. For Kelly no two days at Enterprise Angels are ever the same, however she thrives on the challenges this brings and enjoys the opportunities of always having something new to learn. Kindness and empathy are key drivers for Kelly and she has the philosophy of treating others as you would have them treat you. With this attitude and friendly nature she creates a welcoming environment at Enterprise Angels and has built lasting relationships with the team, our members and Executive Boards. With three sons in their tweens and teens Kelly is kept pretty busy out of work but when she does find time to herself she gardens, reads and loves to spend time walking at the beach.

Richard Hoare

Richard is active in assisting both investors in, and founders of, early stage companies and provides advice on a wide range of corporate and commercial and contract law matters. He enjoys helping people solve problems and manage risk in their business. His aim is to provide a premium service by delivering legal advice that is pragmatic, contextual, and commercial. Richard commenced his legal career in New Zealand in 2010, spending a number of years at a top tier firm in Wellington before gaining extensive exposure to corporate / commercial transactions in Melbourne. Since joining Sharp Tudhope's Commercial team in mid-2017, Richard has acted on mid-market M&A deals with an aggregate deal value in excess of $150m. As chair of EA GP Limited, and a member of our Exit Committee he is fully engaged in Tauranga's growing start-up scene.
