Mary Kelley brings years of professional experience in leadership positions in the performing arts in New York City and New England including eleven years as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency supporting cultural organizations, artists and schools in the Commonwealth. Prior to her appointment at the Council, Mary earned a law degree and served as Special Assistant Attorney General in the AG's office in Massachusetts.
Previous credits include: founding Executive Director of The Music Hall in Portsmouth NH; Director of Marketing and General Manager of The Big Apple Circus; and Production Associate at Warner Theatre Productions which produced or co produced 22 Broadway and off-Broadway productions. For Tom Field Associates, Mary created the Westbeth Theatre Center in New York from the old Bell Sound Laboratories on Bank Street in New York. From incorporation of the Center to hiring the theatre architect and designer, she oversaw the operations of this Off-Off Broadway theatre complex during its formative years. She was General Manager at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and ETC Theatre Company. She served as New York State Director of Hands Across America, a project of USA for Africa and managed the South American tour of EVITA.
Tom Field was the founder of Tom Field Associates (TFA) formed in 1969 in Boston as a small theatrical lighting company. TFA became one of the largest touring lighting and staging companies in the United States with clients including Bruce Springsteen, Chicago, Elton John, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and The Rolling Stones. TFA provided equipment and personnel to Woodstock, Mar y Sol, Watkins Glen, as well as following the legendary Chip Monck to the Newport Jazz, Folk and Opera Festivals. TFA also created the Westbeth Theatre Center, a two theatre complex, on Bank Street in NYC.
Tom managed Boston's Strand Theatre in its last days as a commercial film house and was co-founder of Cambridge's New Theatre at Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theatre.
After selling TFA, Tom was involved as Associate Producer on several independent feature and television projects including the cult film, CHUD, and Mangia. Later he became a Producing Fellow at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
Tom has extensive experience in facility development and operations as well as theatre and special events. In 1988, as Director of Production and Facilities at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH, Tom oversaw the reopening of this historic 880 seat theatre and created its successful commercial film operation. In 1992, Tom joined High Output, Inc. (H.O.) to create a Theatrical and Special Events Division. Clients included the Flynn Performing Arts Center in Burlington, VT, the Garde Arts Center in New London, CT, the Providence Performing Art Center in Providence, RI as well as Boston Lyric Opera, the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall. In 2000, Tom was the H.O. event producer for Mohegan Sun's Centennial Celebration.
