Dr. Jack S. Daubert - Founder

Dr. Daubert is the founder of Florida Vision Institute. He began practicing ophthalmology in 1989 up until 2012. Dr. Daubert was instrumental in shaping Florida Vision Institute into what it is now, with five locations in Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie counties.

Dr. Jodi Luchs

Job Titles:
  • Principal Investigator
Dr. Jodi Luchs is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with a sub-specialty in Cornea & External Disease. He completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania followed by his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and internship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Luchs was distinguished as a Chief Resident during his Ophthalmology residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He was a fellow in Cornea/External Disease at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Luchs is a founding member of both the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery (AECOS) and the Society of Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgeons (CEDARS). He is also a member of the Castroviejo Corneal Society. Dr. Luchs has been the principal investigator in numerous clinical trials as well as academic appointments. He has authored publications on the cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery to his credit, including two books. He is recognized both nationally and internationally as a trusted leader and educator. In 2015, he received the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Achievement Award.

Dr. Karina Somohano

"What drew me to ophthalmology? It all began when I witnessed my first cataract surgery during medical school. I was fascinated by this elegant and skillful surgery, but what really resonated with me was the meaningful impact it had on a patient's quality of life. It is a special honor to be able to improve a patient's vision. " Dr. Karina Somohano is a highly skilled fellowship-trained cornea, cataract and refractive surgeon who is committed to providing the highest level of patient care. She earned her Doctorate in Medicine from the prestigious Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, in New York City during which she received the Dean's Award for Outstanding Contributions for her leadership in the student-run primary care clinic and the Young Doctors Program. Prior to that, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and minors in Chemistry and Health Sector Management and Policy. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honor Society. Dr. Somohano completed her Ophthalmology Residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell in New York City followed by a Cornea and External Disease Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. During her residency, Dr. Somohano's commitment to excellence and her contributions to clinical research were acknowledged with the Resident Research Day Award. Throughout her medical career, Dr. Somohano has been actively engaged in cutting-edge research, contributing to the advancement of ophthalmology. Her work has been published in esteemed journals such as International Ophthalmology Clinics, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, and the Journal of Glaucoma, among others. Dr. Somohano's research has explored topics ranging from corneal collagen crosslinking protocols to the impact of glaucoma therapy on the ocular surface microbiome. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Dr. Somohano is fluent in Spanish. A South Florida native, she is eager to return to her hometown and provide outstanding ophthalmic care to her community.

Dr. Walid Mangal

Dr. Walid Mangal is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with a sub-specialty in Vitreo-Retinal surgery. He obtained his undergraduate degree and Masters's degree in Public Health from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Mangal was a top graduate completing his medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). He completed his internship at the Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by his ophthalmology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. While at Hahnemann University Hospital he received the distinguishment of Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Mangal completed his sub-specialty fellowship training in Vitreo-Retinal surgery at the National Retina Institute (NRI) in Towson, MD. Dr. Mangal has served Floridians as a medical and surgical Vitreo-Retinal specialist with Florida Vision since 2015. He and the Florida Vision team welcome your partnership in the shared care of our community.

Louis Lima

Dr. Lima, who joined Florida Vision LASIK in 2000, is a board-certified optometrist. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology. He received his Doctorate in Optometry, graduating with distinction from the University of Houston's College of Optometry. Dr. Lima has extensive clinical experience in the areas of LASIK, glaucoma, cataracts and contact lenses. Prior to Florida Vision, Dr. Lima owned and operated Lima Vision center in Boca Raton and West Palm Beach.

Marc Brockman

Job Titles:
  • Medical Optometrist
Dr. Brockman is a board-certified optometrist with Therapeutic Drug Certification. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington - earning a Bachelor of Science in psychology and Bachelor of Art in sociology - and received his Doctorate in Optometry, graduating with distinction, from Pacific University's College of Optometry. Dr. Brockman completed a post-graduate residency in Geriatrics and Ocular Disease at the Portland VA Medical Center. Following his residency, he accepted a position at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where he was Director of Clinical Services for 7 years before coming to Florida Vision Institute in 2003. Dr. Brockman has extensive clinical experience in the areas of glaucoma, cataracts, and ocular diseases including dry eye syndrome. He is committed to providing personalized care to each and every patient.

Maria D. Garcia

Dr. Maria de Lourdes Garcia is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist and oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. She specializes in disorders of the eyelids and orbit, cosmetic facial rejuvenation procedures and surgery, and treatment of tearing disorders. For her undergraduate training, Dr. Garcia attended Carleton College, where she graduated with honors in Biology and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She then received her medical degree from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, MN. She returned to South Florida to complete her medical internship at Aventura Medical Center, followed by three years of ophthalmology residency training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Garcia was then chosen for a highly competitive and prestigious fellowship in oculoplastic, facial, and reconstructive surgery in New York City. During her fellowship training, Dr. Garcia served on staff providing highly specialized care in oculoplastic surgery at NYU Medical Center, Columbia University, Weill Cornell Medical Center, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and Bellevue Hospital, as well as cosmetic private practices throughout Manhattan. She has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery, as well as lectured at several national and international meetings. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Garcia has a special interest in aesthetic facial rejuvenation. She believes in a patient-centered approach and will spend the time necessary to provide you with the best treatment options tailored to your specific needs. Her expertise lies in minimally invasive surgery, including scarless lacrimal surgery (endoscopic DCR) and endoscopic brow lifts. Dr. Garcia was raised in South Florida and trained in NYC, making her cognizant of the specific needs of our community. She enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and French Bulldogs. You will find her dancing, traveling, or baking when she is not performing surgery.

Michael Goldberg

Dr. Goldberg is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, completing his doctoral program in 2000. He began practicing in South Florida until opening his own practice in 2002 in the Treasure Coast. For the last twenty years, he has made Port St. Lucie his home and has served the entire Treasure Coast from Hobe Sound to Vero Beach with state-of-the-art technologies and a genuine love for his patients. The decision to join the Florida Vision family allows for a greater convenience to his patients, splitting time between the Stuart and Tradition offices. While focusing on primary care, including wellness exams and vision testing, Dr. Goldberg also specializes in hard to fit contact lenses and emergency ocular care. Dr. Goldberg is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association.

Quentin B. Allen

Dr. Allen is a board-certified ophthalmologist who holds a Doctor of Medicine from Duke University in Durham, NC. He completed his clinical internship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, and his ophthalmology residency at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Allen has been practicing ophthalmology for more than 14 years and has performed more than 10,000 cataract and refractive procedures. He also has extensive experience in medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma.

Ralph Diaz

Dr. Diaz is the director of Eyecare Services at Florida Vision Optique and has practiced in the greater Stuart area for over 35 years. Dr. Diaz received his B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Tampa in 1982. He went on to graduate from Southern College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1986 and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the international optometric honor society, upon graduation. He is a 35-year member of the Florida Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the Treasure Coast Optometric Association. His community involvement includes sponsorship of the Florida Oceanographic Society. Dr. Diaz resides in Stuart with his wife, Sue.

Rebecca Bobo

Dr. Bobo a native of Jensen Beach, Florida, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who graduated from the Junior Honors Medical Program at the University of Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Biological and Medical Sciences with Honors. Her dedication to both community service and patient care has been recognized in receiving Presidential recognition in her undergraduate years and by her induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in Medical School. Dr. Bobo received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Florida in 2003. She subsequently completed her Ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Georgia in 2007. Upon entering private practice, she served as the Assistant Professor for the University Of Montreal College Of Optometry prior to joining our practice in 2013. Dr. Bobo has extensive clinical experience in the areas of cataracts, glaucoma, retinal and diabetic disease as well as dry eye syndrome. She is a compassionate physician who values high-quality care and commitment to her patients.
