Brian Snyder - Founder

Brian Snyder, MD, PhD is a co-founder of Flex Biomedical and an Orthopedic Surgeon at Children's Hospital in Boston. Dr. Snyder is also an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Harvard Medical School and Director of the Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has an MD and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Snyder is also the inventor of a spinal product commercialized by Globus Medical, Inc.

David C. Sneider

David C. Sneider, J.D., C.P.A. - David has more than 20 years of domestic and international experience in strategic aspects of finance, mergers and acquisitions, and risk management. David was formerly the CFO of Nerites, the Chief Business Officer of Cellular Dynamics, CFO of NimbleGen Systems Inc., CFO of Third Wave Technologies, and CFO of Tellabs, Inc. He earned a B.B.A. and J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago. His C.P.A. was awarded by the University of Illinois.

Don Urbanowicz

Don Urbanowicz - Don Urbanowicz recently retired from Stryker Orthopedics where he led business development since 2001. Mr. Urbanowicz has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry, including senior positions at Stryker, Aircast, Sofamor Danek, and Smith&Nephew. Hideki Suzuki

Hideki Suzuki, PhD - Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Suzuki was the chief scientist at ConjuGon from 2002 to 2008. He has 20 years of experience and has two issued patents, numerous pending patents and also was the Principle Investigator on numerous grants. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo and had post-doctoral positions at the Ohio State University and Cornell University.

Mark Grinstaff

Mark Grinstaff, PhD - Dr. Grinstaff, a Flex Bio cofounder, is Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry at Boston University. Prior to BU Mark was Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Ophthalmology, and Biomedical Engineering at Duke University and the Duke Medical Center. Mark received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois and was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the California Institute of Technology.

Michel Wathier

Michel Wathier, PhD - Vice President of Research & Development. Michel was a Project Manager in the Grinstaff lab in the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry at Boston University. He received his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Avignon, France. He is an inventor on five patent applications including the application for the Flex Polymerâ„¢. He is also a co-inventor on patent applications that are being commercialized by Hyperbranch Medical Technology.

Nicholas Mischler

Nicholas Mischler, MD - Dr. Mischler is a serial innovator and entrepreneur: developer of five community clinics in Southern Wisconsin and the Meriter Hospital Cancer Clinic, one of the founders of Southern Wisconsin Radiotherapy Center. Nick earned a BA (magna cum laude) from Marquette University, an MD from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MS from the University of Wisconsin. He completed his internal medicine and oncology training at the Universities of Iowa and Wisconsin, respectively, and served in the United States Armed Forces as a Navy flight surgeon. Dr. Mischler is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Physician Executives.

Richard Kijowski

Richard Kijowski, MD is a musculoskeletal radiologist at UW-Madison. He has a special interest in musculoskeletal MR imaging with emphasis on the knee and elbow. His primary research interest is the use of morphologic and quantitative MR methods to investigate osteoarthritis and acute cartilage injury. Dr. Kijowski received his MD from Loyola University.

Roger Chylla

Roger Chylla, PhD is a medical imaging software expert. He is currently the Director of Software Development at the National Magnetic Resonance Facility at UW-Madison. Prior to that he was CTO at NovaShield and co-founder and CTO of UltraVisual Medical Systems, a medical imaging software company. UltraVisual merged with Emageon in 2004 and completed an IPO in 2005. Roger has a PhD from the University of Illinois.

Sal Braico - CEO, President

Sal Braico - President and CEO. Before co-founding Flex Biomedical, Sal was the Chief Operating Officer of ConjuGon, an antibacterial biotech company, from 2002 to 2008. He has an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Marine Engineering from the US Merchant Marine Academy. Sal also served as a Lieutenant in the US Naval Reserve.

William Stafford

William Stafford is an experienced medical diagnostic executive. He was most recently the CEO of CRS Medical Diagnostics and Neurognostics. Prior to that he was with Merge Technologies Inc., where he was Senior Vice President of OEM and International Operations. Bill received a Bachelor's Degree from Yale and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
