Amelia Stoj - CCO

Amelia joined Foresite Capital in 2017. She brings more than 10 years of combined professional experience in the compliance and legal fields. Prior to joining Foresite Capital, Amelia was a Partner and Senior Vice President at Cordium, the second largest compliance consulting firm in the U.S. During her 7-year tenure at Cordium, she launched and was the head of the firm's West Coast Office. She was also responsible for overseeing and monitoring the compliance programs of more than 85 registered investment advisers (representing over $35 billion in assets). Amelia began her legal career in Boston at Proskauer Rose, where she focused on private-equity fund formation. She received her B.A. from Wesleyan University and her J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Austin Nalen Sprole

Austin is a member of the investment team at Foresite Capital, focused on opportunities across healthcare technology and services. Austin also oversees Foresite's impact investing framework, which includes quantifying and tracking the impact of Foresite investments on health outcomes. Prior to Foresite, Austin spent four years at Oxeon Partners, where she worked with entrepreneurs and investors in the healthcare IT and services space to grow their businesses, through people, partnerships, and investments. Austin also developed and led Break into the Boardroom, a collaboration between Oxeon and Deerfield Management aimed at increasing diversity at the board level. Austin started her career in the global health space, working on health projects in Rwanda and Tanzania. She served as an Operations Fellow for Gardens for Health International, partnering with the Rwandan government to incorporate agriculture into the clinical treatment of chronic malnutrition. Austin recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a Master of Public Health and MBA. While at Haas, Austin worked in Finance at Genentech. Austin graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College with an honors degree in international studies.

Chase Kelley

Chase joined Foresite Capital in 2022 as an Associate on the Research team, where he focuses on identifying early-stage transformational technologies in the life sciences. Chase received his Ph.D. in genetics and genomics as an NSF Graduate Fellow from University of Florida in the lab of Dr. Eric Wang, where he studied the intersection of subcellular RNA localization, repeat expansion disease mechanisms, and gene therapy engineering strategies. Chase led and collaborated on studies in both experimental and computational biology, the latter of which included building high-throughput automated image analysis methods for single-molecule RNA imaging. He also participated in our first Foresite Fellows Program cohort. Prior to his graduate studies, Chase worked as a research associate in protein and RNA engineering at Editas Medicine in Cambridge, MA, where he led projects on directed evolution of Cas9 and guide RNAs. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering and physics from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and during his undergraduate training he built additional experience in nanoparticle drug delivery, protein engineering, and gene editing through internships in academia and industry.

Cindy Mesaros

Cindy joined in 2017 to head marketing and communications for Foresite Capital, bringing 20 years of experience as a marketing executive at technology startups. Prior to joining Foresite Capital, she was a consultant to early and mid-stage startups with clients in entertainment, healthcare and professional services. She served as VP marketing at We Heart It, the social image-sharing platform with 40MM members. Cindy co-founded mobile ad targeting platform Metaresolver, acquired by Millennial Media, and mobile content company Moderati, acquired by Bellrock Media. She has also held executive-level positions in HR, including a stint as VP People for Yelp. Cindy holds an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in Business Administration from the Haas school at U.C. Berkeley.

David joined Foresite Labs from Regeneron, where he was the executive vice president and head of global clinical development. During his tenure with the company, David managed programs across different therapeutic focus areas, including its successful Dupixent program and its COVID therapeutic antibody. Prior to Regeneron, he was the head of global development for specialty medicine at Bayer Pharmaceuticals and previously served as executive director and global product area leader (Angiogenesis) at Amgen.

Dennis D. Ryan - CFO, Managing Director

Dennis has over three decades of experience as a financial executive in the venture capital, private equity, investment and real estate industries. Dennis began his career with the international accounting firm KPMG (Peat, Marwick & Mitchell). As a licensed certified public accountant (CPA - inactive) in California, Dennis has served as chief financial officer and senior executive in firms ranging from a publicly owned real estate investment trust (REIT), Western Properties Trust, to a sponsor of a series of venture debt funds, Lighthouse Capital Partners, to a start-up of investment funds, Berkeley Advisors Group. In his role as chief financial officer with these firms, his responsibilities included debt and equity financing, investment structuring, financial reporting, portfolio management and strategic planning. Since 2011, Dennis has led the Operations Group at Foresite Capital as Chief Financial Officer.

Dorothy Margolskee - Managing Director

Dorothy joined Foresite Capital in 2012 and has overseen the development of Foresite Capital's research and development evaluation group. Dorothy has worked with Jim for more than 21 years, previously at Prospect Ventures as a Managing Director in charge of Research, and now at Foresite Capital. In this capacity, Dorothy built an early version of the Foresite Capital investment technical review process, rigorously analyzing biotechnology company portfolios on the basis of scientific validation, clinical efficacy and safety, manufacturing readiness and FDA regulatory risk. Earlier, Dorothy had 15 years of drug development experience at Merck Research Labs, ultimately becoming a Senior Vice President with responsibility for a wide variety of clinical development programs and project planning. In particular, she was deeply involved in the design and execution of several vaccine programs, including Gardisil, RotaTeq, Varivax and Zostavax. Dorothy received an MRL Divisional Scientific Award in 1998 for developing one of Merck's largest drugs, Singulair. In addition, she led the team that designed and implemented the advanced AIDS program during the development of Crixivan, one of the first HIV protease inhibitors that revolutionized the treatment of HIV infection. Prior to joining Merck, Dorothy received an M.D. from Johns Hopkins Medical School where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and a B.A. from Harvard University where she graduated summa cum laude. She is boarded in both Internal Medicine and Pulmonary, and completed her residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and fellowship training at UCSF.

Dr. Cindy Xiong

Hadi Tabbaa - Managing Director

He joined Foresite from B Capital Group, where he was as a Partner & Global Head of Investor Relations. Prior to B Capital, he was at Coatue Management, a technology-focused investment manager he joined in 2017 as a senior member of the Investor Relations department. He previously spent nine years in a variety of roles at BlackRock, including head of cross-border corporate transactions and as a coverage officer in BlackRock's Institutional Client Business. Earlier in his career, he was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Hyung is a physician scientist who joined Foresite Capital from Yale School of Medicine, where he was a tenured faculty member and continues to remain an adjunct faculty. He has published extensively in top scientific and medical journals including Nature, Science, New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Medicine, and Science Translational Medicine, and is an inventor on multiple patents. He has served in multiple academic leadership roles, including as Co-Director of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center and Director of Translational Research of the Yale Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program, as well as in advisory roles to multiple large pharmaceutical companies and early stage biotechs. He has had continuous funding from the National Institutes of Health throughout his academic career and has been the recipient of multiple honors including the Jeremiah Stamler Distinguished Young Investigator Prize, Irvine H. Page Award from the Amerian Heart Association, election as a Fellow of the American Heart Association, election into the Sir William Osler Interurban Clinical Club, and induction into the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Hyung received his A.B. with honors in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College, his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship at Stanford, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge. Jacob Barlow

Prior to Foresite, Jacob was a Fellow at Northpond Ventures where he focused on investments within the life science tools and diagnostics space. He completed his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Caltech in the lab of Dr. Rustem Ismagilov. His thesis focused on quantitative nucleic acid technologies for the study of the human microbiome and the development of new diagnostics. He led and collaborated on several human clinical studies interrogating host-microbial interactions in irritable bowel syndrome, Celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and cognition. Jacob received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and B.S. in Biochemistry at Northeastern University. During his time there he completed biotech internships at Moderna Therapeutics, Entrega Biosciences, and the Massachusetts General Hospital division of precision medicine. His work focused on RNA secondary structure and function relationships, oral drug delivery, and phage display for the discovery of new cancer imaging peptides.

Jim Tananbaum is the founder and chief executive officer of Foresite Capital, a U.S.-focused healthcare investment firm founded in 2011 that has approximately $3.5 billion in assets under management. Jim assembles the people, ideas and money needed to launch products that save lives and improve healthcare. He is always looking for visionary entrepreneurs with insights into therapeutics, devices, diagnostics or services that could, with the right support, change the world. During the last three decades Jim has been a thought partner for some of the most impactful and fastest growth companies of their generation including: 10x Genomics (Nasdaq: TXG), Amerigroup (Nasdaq: ANTM), and Jazz Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: JAZZ). Prior to that he was an asset allocator for the RTX pension investment team where he was a portfolio manager responsible for the private equity, real estate and fixed income asset classes.
