Mr. Meade has successfully represented major construction companies and property owners in multi-million dollar tort claims, as well as successfully defending product liability claims brought against product manufacturers, including manufactures of construction equipment and office and hospitality furniture. Additionally, he has successfully defended a private organization against a civil claim for damages based upon allegations of sexual assault and improper supervision. Mr. Meade has served Pro Bono as an Arbitrator with the New York County Lawyers' Association to resolve attorney-client disputes in accordance with the Joint Committee on Fee Disputes and Conciliation. Beth Rex is a partner with French & Casey, and a skilled litigation trial attorney with over 35 years of experience. She began her practice in a firm that was in-house counsel to a well-known boutique insurance company, where she spent nearly 17 years, rising from a beginning associate to managing attorney and partner. Ms. Rex has spent her career in civil litigation, with a primary focus on construction site and premises liability. James R. Flanagan is Counsel to French & Casey, LLP. Mr. Flanagan is a seasoned litigator and trial attorney with over thirty years of experience representing clients in a wide range of litigated matters in the state and federal courts of New York. Mr. Flanagan has extensive expertise in every aspect of civil litigation, with a proven track record of successfully defending construction site cases brought under the NYS Labor Law, premises liability actions, elevator and escalator cases, and commercial lines automobile liability claims. He has also handled significant property damage subrogation claims, as well as product liability cases involving defective design and manufacture claims. Mr. Flanagan began his career as an associate and later a partner at a well-respected midtown civil litigation firm. While concentrating in the defense of elevator, escalator, Labor Law, construction defect and product liability actions, he also successfully defended many premises claims. Mr. Flanagan later joined one of New York's most prominent plaintiff's litigation firms. Mr. Flanagan then returned to defense work, founding a New York staff counsel office for a major property & casualty insurance company. Mr. French began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the District Attorney for Kings County (Brooklyn, New York). During his tenure with the Kings County District Attorney's Office, he successfully prosecuted numerous cases, primarily in the Narcotics and Homicide Bureaus, and obtained dozens of verdicts. Following his experience with the Kings County District Attorney's Office, Mr. French worked with the firm of Flemming Zulack & Williamson, LLP where he defended toxic tort, product liability and commercial litigation defendants. After working at a prominent New York City insurance defense firm, Kroll & Tract LLP, Mr. French became Special Counsel at Rosenman & Colin, LLP (now Katten, Muchin & Rosenman LLP) in 1997. Joe began his own practice in 2000, as a partner in Flanagan, Cooke & French, LLP, a predecessor to what eventually became French & Casey, LLP. He is well-known for representing and defending major New York City scaffold and hoist companies, and he has obtained numerous verdicts and scores of favorable summary judgment decisions for his varied construction clients. His practice, however, has expanded and has included a variety of clients ranging from rock star Ozzie Osbourne, whom he successfully defended at a three week trial, and Motley Crue, to sports and recreation facilities and coaches, defending well-known New York City night clubs and restaurants, prominent religious organizations, and many metropolitan area businesses and individuals. A seasoned trial attorney, French has tried over 100 cases to verdict during his career. Mr. French has frequently contributed articles to several trade publications. Mr. French has also co-authored three articles published in Scaffolding Industry Magazine entitled, "Sidewalk Bridges and the General Public, How to Minimize Liability for Trips, Slips and Falls Underneath Sidewalk Bridges"; "Overlooking Minor Details in a Contracted Job can Result in Major Problems"; and "Sidestep Sidewalk Bridge Risks". He also co-authored "Sidewalk Bridge License Fees: Are They Under RPAPL881?", New York Law Journal, March 26, 2013. Mr. French is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York County Bar Association, the Queens County Bar Association, the New York Brehon Law Society and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. French has also been an active member of the Douglaston (Queens) Civic Association, serving as President between 1991 and 1995 and Vice President between 1995 and 2000. Additionally, Mr. French has served on the Douglas Manor Association Board of Directors, and was a basketball and soccer coach for Queens County C.Y.O. for nine (9) years. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Douglaston Club, Inc., and served as its legal counsel from 2012-2018. He also served on the Independent Judicial Screening Committee for the Civil Court of New York County in 2014 and 2018. Lance E. Benowitz

Lance E. Benowitz joined the firm in 2008 and was made a Partner on January 1, 2014. His practice is focused on labor and construction law, as well as insurance coverage and litigation. Since joining the firm, Mr. Benowitz has worked on numerous construction law cases with an emphasis on defending trade contractors from Labor Law 200, 240(1) and 241 (6) causes of action and sub-contractors from claims for defense and indemnification.
