(GSW) was originally formed in 1947 as Airport Garbage to provide waste collection services to 600 customers in the city of Modesto. In 1962, company ownership transferred to sons, Eugene and Leroy Gilton, and was relocated to Mono Drive in Modesto. The company continued to grow and expand its service areas which lead to the development and opening of Gilton Resource Recovery / Transfer Facility, Inc. (GRR) on McClure Road in Modesto in 1990.
