Alice Cerrato

Alice Cerrato is a young graduate from Rome, Italy. In July 2021 she obtained her bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations at "Sapienza" University of Rome with the final grade of 110/110 cum laude, and she is currently enrolled in the second year of a master's degree programme in International Relations with a special focus of Crime, Justice, and Security at the University of Bologna. Alice entered the world of work for the first time thanks to an internship at Human Resources, Organization & Real Estate, Tim Academy & Development, Engagement & Development on Gender Gap, Millennial Gestion and Motivation Survey. While graduating, she carried out a traineeship on "Knowing and communicating migration" at Arci Association in Rome, Italy. Alice is currently carrying out an Erasmus+ funded traineeship at the Global Governance Institute with the Peace & Security unit. Alice focuses on Human Rights challenges, Migration, Peace-building, and the Responsibility to Protect.

Camilla Venturini

Job Titles:

Camilla Venturini obtained her Bachelor degree in Sociology from the University of Trento, Italy, and a one-year-Master's in International Security from the University of Groningen, Netherlands. She is now enrolled in a Master's degree programme in International Relations, within a focus on Crime, Justice and Security at the University of Bologna, in Italy. She participated in two Erasmus+ study experiences in Germany and Czech Republic and carried out a remote traineeship with the German Marshall Fund of the United States' office in Brussels. Currently, she is carrying out an Erasmus+ funded traineeship at the Global Governance Institute with the Peace & Security unit while writing her master thesis with a critical and bottom-up approach on peacebuilding. Her main foci in the traineeship are peacebuilding and protection of civilians in conflict areas, human trafficking and migration, and European approaches to teaching excellence.

Clara Cotroneo

Clara is a Resident Fellow at the GGI's Global Justice Unit, where she develops strategic partnerships and collaborative projects for research and capacity-building in this area. She has a background in teaching and higher education management. From 2019 - 2021 she worked as a Lecturer and Project Manager at the European Institute for Public Administration in Maastricht, The Netherlands where she was also in charge of the Annual European Public Sector Award.

Dr Nicholas Startin

Dr Nicholas Startin is a non-resident Senior Fellow at the European Centre for Global Education of the Global Governance Institute. He is an Associate Professor in European Politics and International Affairs at John Cabot University in Rome. He is the former Chair of the University Association of Contemporary European Studies (UACES) and formerly Head of Politics, Languages and International Studies (PoLIS) at the University of Bath.

Eamon Aloyo

Eamon Aloyo is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow in the Global Justice and Human Rights Section. He focuses on a range of issues at the intersection of international relations and political philosophy, such as the responsibility to protect (R2P), mass atrocity prevention, just war theory, human rights, and global justice. Eamon is Assistant Professor in international relations at Leiden University where he teaches in the MAIR program.

Gauri Khandekar is a Senior Fellow in the Global Environmental Governance section. She is also a Researcher at the Brussels School of Governance - VUB. Prior, Gauri was the Deputy Director and Director Europe at the think tank Global Relations Forum; Coordinator for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung's Energy and Urban Transformation Project; and Project Leader for the EU Delegation to India's Think Tanks Twinning Project.

Georgios Terzis is a Senior Resident Fellow at the European Centre for Global Education. He is also Associate Professor in Communications at the Brussels School of Governance, VUB. George carried out postdoctoral research at University of Pennsylvania and University of Oxford on media and security, received his Ph.D. in Communication Science from the Katholieke Universiteit Brussel, and studied Journalism and Mass Communication in Greece, UK, the US, and The Netherlands.

Silke Rusch is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow in the Peace and Security Section. She served until recently as deputy head of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Section in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York.

Steve Utterwulghe

Steve was UNDP's Resident Representative in Tunisia. He led an international team of 150 staff working on governance, sustainable economic growth, climate change, innovation, development finance, and SDG acceleration. Before joining UNDP, he was a Senior Private Sector Specialist and the Global Lead for Public-Private Dialogue at the World Bank Group. In that capacity, he advised approximately 30 governments and the private sector on how to design and implement structured multi-stakeholder engagement mechanisms to improve the business environment. He worked at the United Nations in Geneva (International Trade Centre) and in Sudan for the UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General; at the European Commission in Brussels; and was Vice-President of International Development, Global Affairs and Partnerships at Search for Common Ground (Brussels & Washington D.C.), the world's largest non-profit organization working in the field of fragility, development, and sustainable business, nominated for the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize. He was an Advisor to the Australian Government's Agency for International Development. Steve has lived and worked in war-torn countries such as Angola and Sudan and designed and led programmes in most fragile and conflict-affected states, including Yemen, the Central African Republic, Myanmar, Somalia, Afghanistan, Mali, DR Congo, Haiti, Burundi, and South Sudan. His work has been published by the World Bank, in academic journals (Oxford University Press), policy magazines, and European and African newspapers. He holds a Master's degree from the London School of Economics, and a dual Master's degree from Tilburg University (The Netherlands) and the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). He also studied Sustainable Business Leadership at Cambridge University and Management at Harvard. Steve has lived in 9 countries and speaks French, English, and Portuguese fluently.
