Dr. Bertalan Horváth

Bertalan Horváth was born in 1982 in Hódmezővásárhely, Hungary. He studied physics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and graduated with a summa cum laude M.Sc. degree in physics in 2006. He continued his studies at the Doctoral School of Physical Sciences of said University and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2012. His thesis was about nanotechnology. Dr. Bertalan Horváth started his career in the field of industrial property with Gödölle, Kékes, Mészáros & Szabó in 2010. He passed his Hungarian patent attorney examination in 2013 and his European Qualifying Examination in 2016. He is also a professional representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office. He became a partner of the firm in 2019. Dr. Horváth has considerable expertise in the field of inventions relating to physics, software technology and artificial intelligence. Dr. Horváth is a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys and a member of the Examination Board for Patent Attorneys in Hungary. He is a substitute member of the Council of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi). Furthermore, he is a member of the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (MIE), the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI) and the Hungarian Group of AIPPI, as well as the ECTA.

Dr. Daisy Machytka-Frank

Daisy Machytka was born in 1961 in Budapest, Hungary. She graduated from the Technical University of Budapest in 1985 with a M.Sc.Chem.Eng. degree. From 1985 to 1998 she was a research fellow with the Central Research Institute for Chemistry of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In 1987/1988 she was doing postgraduate studies as a Soros scholar at the University of Oxford (Brasenose College) in England. In 1990 she obtained her doctoral degree in physical chemistry from the Technical University of Budapest. From 1990 to 1993 she was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Bonn in Germany. She passed her patent attorney examination in 1994, joined Gödölle, Kékes, Mészáros & Szabó as a patent attorney in 1998 and became a partner as of 2005. From 2003 she is a European patent attorney, and from 2004 a professional representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Dr. Machytka-Frank is a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys. She was a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Chamber and has been a member of the Presidency of the Chamber since 2019. She was member of the Examination Board for Patent Attorneys between 2017 and 2020. Dr. Machytka-Frank is a member of the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (MIE), and the Hungarian Trademark Association, where she is also a member of the Controlling Committee. She is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and a member of the AIPPI Pharma Committee. She is a member of the Presidency of the Hungarian Group of AIPPI. Furthermore, she is a member of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), an associate member of the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG) and a country correspondent to the Bio-Science Law Review, Witney, United Kingdom. In 2019 Dr. Machytka-Frank was awarded the Jedlik Ányos Prize by the President of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office for outstanding accomplishments in protection of industrial property.

Dr. István Gödölle

István Gödölle was born in 1940 in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated from the Technical University of Budapest in 1963 with a M.Sc.Elec.Eng. degree. From 1963 to 1969 he was an engineer with the Institute for Measurement Technology, then with the Institute for Occupational Health, both in Budapest. In 1970 he passed his patent attorney examination, and in 1978 he received his Doctor of Law degree from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. He started his patent career with a Hungarian business machine company in 1969. He entered private patent and trademark practice in 1971 and was with Patent & Law Office for International Affairs, Budapest. In 1990 he was one of the four patent attorneys who established the firm Gödölle, Kékes, Mészáros & Szabó Patent and Trademark Attorneys. He was managing partner of the firm until 2023. From 2003 he is a European patent attorney, and from 2004 a professional representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Dr. Gödölle was a research fellow with Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Competition Law in Munich, Germany, in 1983/1984. He was a member of the Codification Committee for a patent bill at the Ministry of Justice in 1994. He was a member of the National Intellectual Property Council and a member of the Body of Experts on Industrial Property in Hungary. He is a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys and was its first President from 1996 to 1999. Dr. Gödölle has been a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) since 1974 and was a member of the Executive Committee, the Programme Committee and the Nominating Committee of AIPPI. In the Hungarian Group of AIPPI he served as General Secretary, then he was President from 1998 to 2010. He is a member of a number of international associations in the field of intellectual property (FICPI, INTA, MARQUES, UNION-IP, LIDC, ATRIP), furthermore of the Hungarian Trademark Association (MVE) and the Hungarian Association of Competition Law. He was a member of the Presidency and the Committee, respectively, of the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (MIE). Dr. Gödölle is the author or a co-author of more than 80 articles on different topics in intellectual property law. He was a member of the Editorial Board of the European Trade Mark Reports, London, United Kingdom. Since 2005 he has been a contributor of the online publication "Madrid System Guide" of the International Trademark Association (INTA), New York, NY. He lectured on patent law at the Law Faculty of Eötvös Loránd University from 1980 to 1989. Since 2006 he has been a senior lecturer on the protection of intellectual property with the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Budapest. Dr. Gödölle was awarded the Jedlik Ányos Prize by the President of the Hungarian Patent Office (1999), the Award of Merit of AIPPI (2000), the Industrial Property Medal by MIE (2002), the Somlai Tibor Prize from the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys (2005) and the Award "For Hungarian Trademark Culture" by MVE (2021). He is a Member Honoris Causa of the Hungarian Group of AIPPI.

Dr. Marcell Kereszty

Marcell Kereszty was born in 1969 in Budapest, Hungary. He studied electrical engineering in Budapest, Hungary and Vienna, Austria and graduated from the Technical University of Budapest in 1992 with a M.Sc.Elec.Eng. degree. In 1997 he received his second degree in economics from the University of Economics of Budapest. After working some years as an engineer he started his career in the field of industrial property with Gödölle, Kékes, Mészáros & Szabó in 1996. In 1998 he received his postgraduate diploma in industrial property law. He passed his patent attorney examination with distinction in 1999 and became a partner of the firm in 2002. From 2003 he is a European patent attorney, and from 2004 a professional representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office. In 2005 he received his summa cum laude Doctor of Law degree from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. Dr. Kereszty has considerable expertise in the fields of prosecution and disputes concerning computer-related inventions, trademarks, designs and copyright. Dr. Kereszty is a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys and has been President of the Chamber since 2019. He is a member of the Hungarian Body of Copyright Experts and of the Hungarian Body of Experts on Industrial Property, appointed by the Minister of Justice, in the latter he is a member of the Presidency. Furthermore, he is a member of the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (MIE) and a member of the Presidency of the Hungarian Trademark Association. Dr. Kereszty is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), the ECTA and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR). He has been the President of the Hungarian Group of AIPPI since 2014. He is a substitute member of the Council of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi). Dr. Kereszty obtained the Jedlik Ányos Prize in 2012 (an award given by the President of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office for outstanding accomplishments in protection of industrial property) and the Somlai Tibor Prize in 2016 (an award of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys). In 2015, 2018 and 2021 the President of the European Patent Office appointed Dr. Kereszty ad personam as a member of the Standing Advisory Committee before the EPO (SACEPO).

Enikő Mészáros

Enikő Mészáros was born in Budapest, Hungary. She graduated from the Technical University of Budapest with an M.Sc.Chem.Eng. degree in 1964. From 1964 to 1967 she was an engineer with the Chemical Works of Gedeon Richter Ltd. in Budapest. She entered patent practice in 1967 when she joined Patentbureau Danubia. She passed her patent attorney examination in 1968. From 1975 to 1981 she worked as an in-house patent attorney with her former employer Gedeon Richter Ltd. From 1981 she was in private practice with Patent & Law Office for International Affairs. In 1990 Mrs. Mészáros was one of the founding members of Gödölle, Kékes, Mészáros & Szabó Patent and Trademark Attorney, and was a partner of the firm for many years. She has been a consultant to this firm since 2003. Mrs. Mészáros was a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (MIE). She is a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys.

László Kékes

László Kékes was born in 1939 in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated from the Department of Telecommunication of the Technical University of Budapest with a M.Sc.Elec.Eng. degree. From 1962 to 1971 he was a development engineer and project leader for TV and VHF-FM transmitters with a Hungarian company. He passed his patent attorney examination in 1968. From 1971 to 1974 he was a judge in the Division of Industrial Property at the Metropolitan Court of Budapest. From 1974 he was with Patent & Law Office for International Affairs as a patent attorney. In 1990 Mr. Kékes was one of the founding members of Gödölle, Kékes, Mészáros & Szabó Patent and Trademark Attorney, and was a partner of the firm for many years. From 2003 he was a European patent attorney, and from 2004 also a European Union trademark and design attorney. He has been a consultant to this firm since 2006. Mr. Kékes was a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the Hungarian Group of AIPPI, the Union of European Practitioners in Intellectual Property (UNION-IP) and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR). He is a member of the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (MIE) and served on its Presidency from 1981 to 1990. Furthermore, he is a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys and was a substitute member of its Presidency and then the Treasurer of the Chamber.

Nóra Lazányi

Nóra Lazányi was born in 1988 in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. She studied physics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where she received her B.Sc. degree in 2010 and her M.Sc. degree in 2012, both with distinction. As a student she was involved in the research work at the Institute of Nuclear Technology of the University in the field of fusion plasma physics. She carried out research work also in the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Garching, Germany. Ms. Lazányi joined Gödölle, Kékes, Mészáros & Szabó as a patent attorney candidate in 2018. She passed her Hungarian patent attorney examination with distinction in 2020. She has been a professional representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office since 2021. In 2022 she passed her European Qualifying Examination and became a European patent attorney. Nóra Lazányi is a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys, the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (MIE), the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI) and the Hungarian Group of AIPPI.

Ottó Somorjay

Ottó Somorjay was a Honorary Member of the Hungarian Group of AIPPI. In 1980 he was given the Industrial Property Medal by MIE. In 1996 Ottó Somorjay was awarded the Gold Medal of the World Intellectual Property Organization by Dr. Árpád Bogsch, Director General. Ottó Somorjay passed away in 2004 at the age of 96 years. He was the doyen of the Hungarian patent attorneys and widely recognised as the "grand old man" of the patent profession.

Zoltán Szabó

Zoltán Szabó was given the Industrial Property Medal by MIE (1994), he was awarded the Jedlik Ányos Prize by the President of the Hungarian Patent Office (1997), and he was honoured with the Somlai Tibor Prize by the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys (2003). Zoltán Szabó passed away in 2021 at the age of 79 years, due to Covid-19. He lived and will live in the hearts of those who knew him.
