Catherine Dyer

Catherine joins The Work Place team as a 2019 graduate of the Business Administration Diploma program with a major in Management from Grande Prairie Regional College. During her time at the college, she served as event co-ordinator for both the GPRC Business Conference and the Peace Country Rising Stars competition. In addition to her education, diverse work experience and strong computer skills, Catherine brings a positive and professional attitude and a keen attention to detail. She is very excited to start the next chapter in her career and looks forward to working with clients to help them achieve their employment goals.

Denise Derenowski-Carlson

Denise has a solid background in providing employment and career services, human resource management and adult education. As Manager of the Work Place, Denise works with a team of skilled professionals to guide individuals on their pathway to career and employment success. She holds a Bachelor of Education, with a specialization in Adult Education, from the University of Saskatchewan, a Bachelor of Human Ecology from the University of Manitoba, and is a Certified Life Skills Coach. In 2006, Denise completed her Career Practitioner Certification. She acquired her TEFL Certification in 2012 from the University of Saskatchewan.

Joyce Black

The Work Place continues to honour the life, work and difference Employment Consultant Joyce Black made for countless clients and numerous colleagues in Grande Prairie and area for nearly 15 years. Joyce passed away on March 8, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She continued to work up until the week before her passing, despite severe pain and ongoing treatment locally and in Edmonton. Joyce was an outstanding resume and cover letter writer. She thrived on researching opportunities and coaching clients in their job search. Many found renewed confidence, hope and direction through her guidance. Joyce will be missed as a mentor and friend by her teammates at The Work Place. She was well respected by peers with other community agencies. Joyce was a significant part of The Work Place's success since joining us in 2007 with a strong background in employment counselling from her work in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. We dedicate our ongoing work to her memory and the many contributions she made in helping job seekers find new positions.
