Adam Eliot has been guiding clients through all areas of family law for nearly 30 years. While focusing his career on family relations law, Adam also gained a broad foundation of legal experience in general civil litigation, probate, juvenile, business formation, criminal, and other matters, as well as serving the best interests of children as their court-appointed Guardian ad Litem. Adam has appeared before trial and appellate courts throughout the state of Ohio.
Adam understands how personal and important every case is to his clients, whether child custody, support, dissolution, or property disputes are at issue. He combines empathy for the situation parties find themselves in with extensive legal knowledge, creative strategizing, strong legal writing, and courtroom skills to maximize client outcomes.
Born and raised in New York State, Adam has lived most of his life in the Columbus area. He graduated from Cornell University and the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review. Adam recently spent some time in New York City, blazing a brief side career as a background actor in TV, movies, and commercials. Adam is an avid motorcyclist who enjoys spending time with his adult children, international travel, attending live music and theater, and visiting local craft breweries with friends.

Attorney Anthony Auten was born in Minneapolis. In 1972, he began his legal career in Ohio. Since 1989, he has had an exclusive focus on the area of family law. He is certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a specialist in Family Relations Law and has been listed in Best Lawyers since 2015. Serving as a Columbus family law attorney at Grossman Law Offices, he brings a wealth of experience to the firm to help with cases involving divorce, child custody, child & spousal support, and more.

Attorney Jennifer Basil grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She earned her undergraduate degree from Miami University (Oxford, OH) and law degree from Capital University. Jennifer began her legal career in 1994 in the field of domestic relations at the law firm of Kemp, Shaeffer, Rowe & Lardiere, where she worked while in law school.
Upon graduation from Capital, she served as an attorney for the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) for then Auditor of State Jim Petro. In her time with the SIU, she assisted prosecutors by providing familiarity with investigations and expertise in public-sector prosecutions. While an attorney there, her SIU team assisted in multiple criminal convictions resulting in monetary restitution paid to the State of Ohio.
Following her time at the Auditor of State, Jennifer joined the Enforcement Section of the Ohio Division of Securities, Department of Commerce. There Jennifer was responsible for enforcing the Ohio Securities Act. In that role, Jennifer successfully pursued multiple administrative actions, civil injunctive actions, and criminal referrals against Ohio's most unscrupulous securities issuers who preyed upon Ohio investors.
Now, Jennifer is again focusing on a variety of family law matters with Grossman Law Offices, the field in which her legal career began. She is committed to helping each client resolve his or her individual and unique matter with empathy, practicality and in a cost efficient manner.
Jennifer lives in Upper Arlington with her husband and four children. She enjoys playing golf and tennis, working out at System of Strength, reading, cooking and vacationing in Northern Michigan.
Attorney Jodi Smilack has extensive experience in a wide area of family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, spousal support, dissolution, and paternity. Jodi approaches every matter pragmatically while still taking into account the sensitivities and complexities of each matter. She stresses communication and organization throughout every phase of the process. Jodi was voted to the Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2015 through 2018 and again in 2021 and 2022.
Jodi received her Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School, located in Chicago, where she earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Constitutional Law II and was an Octo-Finalist in the Dean F. Herzog Moot Court Competition. She also participated in the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, where she assisted in the representation of domestic violence survivors.
While attending law school, Jodi clerked for a family law firm in Chicago, researching questions of law related to property division, child support, and other family law issues; drafting pleadings, agreements, and subpoenas related to various family law matters; and working with clients to answer discovery requests. This experience, coupled with her law school education, heavily contributed to Jodi's passion for family law and helping people move forward during difficult parts of their lives.
Jodi was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Although she lived in multiple states across the country, from California to New York, she always felt that Columbus, Ohio is her one true home. In her free time, Jodi enjoys spending time with her family, distance running, yoga, barre, hiking, attending concerts, and exploring the food culture around Columbus.
Attorney John H. Cousins IV grew up in Bay Village, Ohio and serves as a Columbus family law attorney at Grossman Law Offices. He began his legal career in 2008 with the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office. His job was to prosecute serious felonies at all levels in the judicial system in Ohio. He also worked on more than 60 appeals in the Supreme Court of Ohio and Tenth District Court. John earned himself a reputation as a hard-working and meticulous negotiator and litigator.

John earned himself a reputation as a hard-working and meticulous negotiator and litigator.
He then went on to work as a Judicial Attorney in the Tenth District Court of Appeals for Judge Lisa L. Sadler. After that, he worked in the same capacity in the Supreme Court of Ohio under Justice Judith L. French.
With experience in appellate law, John brings a unique perspective to Grossman Law Offices working on cases involving divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, prenuptial agreements, and dissolution.
Now, John lives with his wife, Kelly, and their three children in Upper Arlington. In his spare time, he spends time with family and enjoys exercising. He is an avid fan of Cleveland sports teams. He is also a licensed minister and has officiated weddings for close family members and friends.
