Joe Halbach - President

Job Titles:
  • President
  • Registered Architect 9349
Joe Halbach started his career in 1970 as a print boy, both working in the offices of Hueppelsheuser Associates, and taking architectural classes at UTA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in architecture in 1976, and became a registered architect in 1983, the same year he started this firm. He was "on the boards" for the first part of his career and was an integral part of helping the firm make the switch in to the digital age. His first computer was a TRS-80 with 4k of memory. His experience over the years has been wide and varied, managing the office and the personnel in it, producing drawings, writing specifications, working in the field during construction as construction administrator, and tackling the firm's financial management. Joe has worked extensively with the Fort Worth ISD beginning with the 1985 bond program. He has worked with Sundance Square Management Company, Fort Worth Zoo, Fort Worth Country Day School, City of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth and Waco Housing Authorities, and Texas Department of Public Safety. Beginning in 2016 Joe identified 2 key employees who have since become partners in the firm (Jeff VanCuren and Amy Scott Sorley) who, along with Joe's mentorship, are well on their way to guiding the firm forward.

John Roberts

Job Titles:
  • Project Architect
  • Registered Architect 12144
It was 1990 when John Roberts came to us and immediately became a valued asset to the firm. John at that time was, as we all were then, producing construction drawings "on the boards". It was John who helped guide Halbach Dietz Architects through those beginning years of AutoCad, beginning with version 4, having had prior experience with version 1, 2 & 3. Since that time, John has been a working drawings workhorse, lending his considerable expertise and experience for clients including FWISD, Fort Worth Zoo, Sundance Square Management Company, City of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Country Day, Tarrant County, Fort Worth Housing Authority, Double Creek Capital Company, Ellis & Tinsley, and Conti Warehouse. John's amiable and easy bed side manner is another reason that our clients enjoy working with John and keep coming back. Of particular note, is John's documentation and mapping the entire measure of downtown Fort Worth - every building and its history. His website at www.fortwortharchitecture.com showcases his creation, and has a wide variety of visitors including many educators who consult his site regularly for historic information. Historic preservation is John's continuing passion. He has served on the City of Fort Worth Historic & Cultural Landmarks Commission Designation Committee from 2006 to 2010. For Historic Fort Worth, Inc. he has served as a board member since 2002 and is its current Chairman, having served in that capacity since 2013.
