The 20 th of February 1978 is the company funding day under the name of Mining Equipment Enterprise - I.U.M. Tg-Jiu, company founded to produce mining equipment for the open cast coal exploration facilities and spare parts needed for this equipment. The location was carefully chosen right in the center of the Oltenia's Mining Area. The production capabilities were designed to produce mining equipment and spare parts in a volume of over 16000 tons / year. Then, the company changed its name into the "Intreprinderea de Productie si Antrepriza de Montaj si Reparatii Capitale Utilaj Minier" (I.P.A.M.R.C.U.M.).
