Dr Chirag Desai is a Chief consultant and Program Director in Department of Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant surgery at the Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad for last 2 decades. He specializes in complex and cancer surgeries of liver, pancreas, gall bladder and intestine. He has special interest in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He is pioneer in liver transplantation in Gujarat and has to his credit: 1 st living donor liver transplant, 1 st pediatric liver transplant and 1 st liver transplant without blood transfusion in Gujarat. He is the first one from Gujarat to be on the panel of examiners for the Royal College of surgeons, UK. He is an office bearer of many national and international associations.
