Attorney Seman

Attorney Seman is the former Chairman of the Nassau County Bar Association's Attorney-Client Fee Dispute Committee. He has advised, counseled, mediated and assisted various attorneys and clients regarding fee disputes. As such, he is sensitive to clients' financial constraints, as well as the need for complete attorney-client communication and understanding.

Karl C. Seman, Esquire is a founding member of the DWI and Criminal Defense firm of Grunwald & Seman, PC, located in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Mr. Seman is best described as a seasoned, no-nonsense, practical litigator with over 35 years concentrating on criminal and vehicular defenses. Attorney Seman has served as the Felony Trial Assistant District Attorney with the Office of the Nassau County District Attorney. He is also vastly experienced as defense counsel in both criminal and DWI litigation. He maintains a very active and varied criminal defense caseload, which ranges from traffic offenses, first time DWI offenses, vehicular manslaughter, robbery, and murder. Attorney Seman is particularly well-versed in the scientific principles relating to chemical testing of breath and blood analysis. The practice also represents many corporate and individual federal white-collar and larcenous offenses. To best serve his clients, Attorney Seman is one of the few attorneys that completed the 24-hour police instructional course on the detection of impaired drivers focused on detection and sobriety tests. Attorney Seman has written various articles, lectured and taught about the intricacies of defending DWI charges. He is the mentor to several less experienced attorneys and prides himself on being available to both clients and new and inexperienced lawyers. As noted in a personal message to clients, his experience also includes Management of Lord and Taylor's New York City Retail store where he supervised, managed and conducted numerous investigations of shoplifting charges, employee dishonesty and theft, and embezzlement cases. As such, he is most experienced in the defense and all variety of theft charges ranging from the first-time shoplifting charges to multi-million dollar, white-collar criminal enterprise allegations. Mr. Seman also manages the School and Educational Departments. He represents students with special educational needs, as well as other students accused of school-related and criminal misconduct that face criminal prosecution, suspension, and expulsions.

Milton Grunwald

Milton Grunwald is a founding partner of Grunwald & Seman, P.C. He has over 36 years of litigation experience in Criminal Law, Commercial Transactions and Second Amendment and Handgun Rights. He has handled every stage of litigation from interviewing the client, setting a successful strategy for achieving the client's goals, protecting their rights, handling all aspects of discovery and personally litigating trials to verdicts. Mr. Grunwald graduated from St. John's University School of Law in 1984. He was selected as the "Best Advocate" in the Sparacio Trial Competition; and, represented the Law School in the 1983-84 National Trial Competition advancing over Ivy League Law Schools to the Regional Semifinals. He was one of a select group of young lawyers accepted into the Nassau County District Attorney's Office upon graduation. He served with distinction in the District Attorney's Office trying many jury cases to verdict including driving while intoxicated, assault, drugs, burglary, domestic violence and other serious criminal matters. As a defense attorney, Mr. Grunwald used the skills learned as an Assistant District Attorney in prosecuting all types of criminal cases in the defense of his clients now accused of crimes. In these last 30 years it is his focus to vigorously defend the rights of his clients, thoroughly prepare, clearly and persuasively advocate their positions and creatively push for the very best possible outcome. It is with this background, Mr. Grunwald has developed an aggressive advocacy approach to litigation but not without losing focus of and maintaining the ability to see the complete picture of a client's needs. He has developed the ability to implement a strategy that addresses the immediate problems of the client without losing sight of their long term plans and objectives. In commercial matters, Mr. Grunwald has guided clients through partnership, shareholder and member disputes, corporate dissolutions and a myriad of complex legal matters involving almost every manner of a breach of contract. His litigation experience has provided him with unique insights into avoiding the pitfalls and problems in the drafting of commercial documents. Mr. Grunwald is a seasoned litigator with broad insight into the working of the legal system and transferring that knowledge into achieving, protecting and realizing the business goals, needs and rights of his clients. His clientele includes automobile dealerships, real estate landlords, insurance brokers, credit unions, and small to mid-size corporations in various commercial ventures. Mr. Grunwald has used his experience in criminal, constitutional, and administrative law in the field of Second Amendment Rights. He has spent over a decade working to assist individuals through the many pitfalls and interpretations of applying for pistol and long gun licenses and permits, drafting and litigating administrative appeals of denials, suspensions, and revocations to Police Licensing Departments and the FBI. He has commenced Article 78 proceedings in the Supreme Court seeking a Court's review of the administrative actions where deserving members of the community have been denied their rights. Mr. Grunwald is a resident of the Village of Roslyn. He served 12 years as its Village Justice preceded by his service as Chairman of the Village's Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Grunwald is a graduate of NYU's School of Public Administration and Brandeis University. He is admitted to practice law in the Courts of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United District Courts of the Eastern, Southern, Western and Northern Districts of New York
