Baron T. Arnold Chief - CFO

Baron joined Harren Equity Partners in July 2016. Prior to joining Harren, Baron worked as a staff accountant at a private investment firm. In that role he participated in handling the sale of multiple portfolio assets, the successful market launch of a new asset, and consolidation with several later add-ons to that new portfolio asset. Baron was a key player in managing day-to-day accounting operations, developing and implementing new accounting procedures, as well as compiling financial reporting and consolidated reporting for internal management use. Baron received a Bachelor's of Science in Commerce with a focus in Accounting and Finance from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. In his free time, he enjoys reading and learning new things.

Bryan Martter - VP

Mr. Martter joined the firm in 2020. His responsibilities include identifying and assessing investment opportunities, closing and financing transactions and monitoring portfolio companies. Prior to joining Harren, Mr. Martter was a member of the Defense & Government Services Group at Raymond James in Washington D.C., where he assisted in executing several M&A and financing transactions in the sector. Mr. Martter holds a B.S. from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with concentrations in Finance and Accounting. In his free time, Mr. Martter is an avid fan of Major League Baseball and enjoys golfing and playing the guitar.

C. Joel Carter

Mr. Carter is a Partner at Harren, currently serving as a member of the board of directors at A&A Transfer. His responsibilities include identifying and assessing investment opportunities, closing and financing transactions and monitoring portfolio companies. Since joining Harren in 2009, Mr. Carter has worked directly with management teams and independent directors at multiple portfolio companies to execute a variety of strategic objectives. These initiatives generally consist of revenue growth strategies, profitability enhancements, and accretive diversification efforts, but also include infrastructure-targeted measures that encourage progress and allow for better visibility into the business. In addition to current role supporting A&A Transfer, Mr. Carter served as a director at Harren's realized investment in Marianna Beauty Holdings. Along with Mr. Carver, Mr. Carter identified, recruited, and/or engaged each of the four members of Marianna's current executive leadership team, a group that achieved substantial revenue growth and profitability expansion, ultimately leading the business through the realization of Harren's investment. Mr. Carter also served as a board observer and was integrally involved in all aspects of Harren's successful realized investment in Professional Directional, primarily working with management to improve financial and operational reporting as well as budgeting and forecasting. Prior to joining Harren, Mr. Carter was a member of the global healthcare investment banking group at Merrill Lynch where he executed a number of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions across various healthcare sectors. Mr. Carter holds a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Business Administration from Washington & Lee University. Mr. Carter and his wife Megan spend most of their time trying to keep up with their identical twin daughters and young son. In whatever free time is left, he enjoys fishing, hunting, gardening and music.

C. Taylor Cole Jr.

Mr. Cole joined Harren in 2014 and is primarily responsible for sourcing, executing, and managing investment opportunities within the Healthcare Services industry. Those activities are closely aligned with the investment strategy he has executed upon since the late 1990's, which includes segmenting the market, developing investment themes and theses, working closely with entrepreneurs and operating executives to source and close deals and building outstanding businesses in partnership with talented management teams. Prior to joining Harren, Mr. Cole was a member of Charterhouse Group, a middle market private equity firm based in New York City, for nearly seventeen years. During that time he was responsible for the firm's healthcare investment activities. Mr. Cole's experience within the healthcare industry at Charterhouse included approximately $250 million of invested equity capital across numerous platforms and dozens of add-on acquisitions. Mr. Cole has served as a member of the boards of directors of numerous healthcare companies including Upstream Rehabilitation, Cross Country Healthcare, Chamberlin Edmonds & Associates, and The Camelot Schools. He currently serves on the board of MedPro Healthcare Staffing. In addition, Mr. Cole regularly participates in speaking engagements related to private equity investing in the healthcare services industry and previously served as Treasurer of the Health Care Private Equity Association, a nonprofit trade association that represents the U.S. healthcare private equity industry. Prior to joining Charterhouse in 1998, Mr. Cole held positions at Morgan Stanley & Co., Kirkland Investment Corp. and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Cole holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. In addition to professional board service, Mr. Cole enjoys serving as a member of the Board of Directors of The Jazz Gallery, a New York City based nonprofit organization that nurtures the upcoming generation of professional jazz musicians.

Courtney Z. McCarthy

Mrs. McCarthy joined Harren as a Partner in 2022 as Head of Fundraising and Investor Relations. She will be responsible for enhancing our relationships with our investors, establishing a direct and dedicated contact with the investing community. Mrs. McCarthy built the fundraising and investor relations role at Summit Partners where she developed relationships with hundreds of investors globally, raising $8bn across five different strategies. She was also Managing Director in the fundraising group at Merrill Lynch. Before joining the private equity world, she spent more than a decade in Leveraged Finance at Merrill Lynch and Chase in both Europe and the US, where she led some of the larger and more complicated deals in the media and telecoms space. Her deal experience and credit training will bring meaningful insights into our strategy and our portfolio for our investors. Mrs. McCarthy graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. She also earned an M.B.A at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where she was a classmate of Mr. Carver. She served several years as the Co-Chair of private equity fundraising for CityYear, where she is a Red Jacket Society Member, and additionally has served as a Chair of the Annual Funds at her sons' previous schools.

Cynthia Smith

Jay Everett

Mr. Everett joined the firm in 2022. His responsibilities include identifying and assessing investment opportunities, closing and financing transactions and monitoring portfolio companies. Prior to joining Harren, Mr. Everett was Director of Strategic Planning for OpenExchange, a video communications provider to the financial services industry, where he was responsible for Financial Planning, & Analysis, as well as a variety of Corporate Development functions including tuck-in M&A. Prior to OpenExchange, Mr. Everett held positions at Golub Capital and Houlihan Lokey, where he was responsible for underwriting and executing financing transactions. Mr. Everett holds a B.S. from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with concentrations in Finance and Accounting. In his free time, Mr. Everett enjoys attending University of Virginia sporting events and can usually be found working on house and woodworking projects with his wife, Taylor.

Katherine Anthoine

Ms. Anthoine joined Harren Equity Partners in July 2021. Prior to moving south and joining Harren, Katherine was a Client Associate for a Boston-based wealth management team at Morgan Stanley. Ms. Anthoine graduated from the College of Communication at Boston University in May 2017 with a major in Public Relations and a concentration in Sociology. In her leisure time, Katherine enjoys socializing with family and friends, cooking, traveling and indoor cycling.

Lee J. Monahan

Mr. Monahan is a Partner at Harren and a current or former member of the boards of directors of various Harren portfolio companies including A&A Transfer, LLC, Velosio Holdings, LLC, and MedPro Healthcare Staffing. He is responsible for evaluating new acquisition candidates, closing and financing transactions and managing existing portfolio companies with a primary focus on leading the firm's efforts in the business and technology services sectors. Prior to joining Harren, Mr. Monahan was an Associate with H.I.G. Capital. Mr. Monahan began his career in the Investment Banking Group of Lazard Frères & Co., a provider of advisory services to clients in mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and capital market activities. Mr. Monahan's interaction with portfolio companies has covered a number of different functional areas. At Woven Electronics he partnered with management in identifying a methodology to improve visibility on material needs, helping create a discipline to significantly reduce inventory. In addition, Mr. Monahan teamed with Woven's management at its UK subsidiary in assessing the functional areas, restructuring the responsibilities of management members and implementing pricing and procedure policies to improve operations and cash flow before the sale of the operation. Most recently, Mr. Monahan has worked with Velosio by improving their data capture and reporting, allowing the organization to significantly increase its win rate on bid proposals as well as improving overall utilization of its consulting resources. Mr. Monahan graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from DePaul University and received a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Mr. Monahan and his wife are also active in a number of philanthropic organizations such as the University of Miami Beaux Arts, Chapman Community Partnership for Homeless, and the Humane Society. In his spare time, he is an avid baseball and football fan and enjoys travel, shooting pool and trying to golf.

Mark D. McCutcheon

Mr. McCutcheon joined Harren Equity Partners in August 2022. Prior to joining Harren, Mark worked as a Senior Accountant for a public accounting firm in the Central Virginia region. Mark spent most of his Accounting career as an Auditor and Tax Professional. Mr. McCutcheon holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Bridgeport and also served in the US Armed Forces. In his free time, Mr. McCutcheon spends most of his time with his wife Hope and their five children. He also enjoys traveling, reading, and attending social events.

Thomas A. Carver - CEO

Mr. Carver founded Harren in 2000. Mr. Carver currently manages all aspects of the investment and portfolio management process at Harren and is a current or former member of boards of directors of various Harren portfolio companies including Virginia Tile Holdings, LLC, AGI-CFI Holdings, Inc., Velosio Holdings, LLC, and Marianna Industries, Inc. Prior to founding Harren, Mr. Carver was a Partner with H.I.G. Capital in Miami, Florida. While at H.I.G., Mr. Carver served on the boards of many portfolio companies and was one of the firm's original professionals. Mr. Carver also has significant operating experience. He served as interim President of Plastic Fabricating Company, a manufacturer of mission critical composite plastic parts for the aerospace industry. Through the eighteen months Mr. Carver spent in Wichita, Kansas, the company significantly grew revenues and profitability. Additionally, Mr. Carver served as interim President of Virginia Explosives & Drilling Company, in Grundy, Virginia. Mr. Carver worked with the company's executives to generate a two-fold increase in revenue and a three-fold increase in profitability. Mr. Carver received a Bachelor of Science, with distinction, from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, where he achieved Beta Gamma Sigma in his junior year (top 2% of his class). He received a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Mr. Carver is active with the University of Virginia, lecuring at both the undergraduate and graduate business schools. Mr. Carver served on both the Finance and Information Technology Subcommittees for the Board of Directors at Martha Jefferson Hospital and was Chairman of the Music Resource Center for eight years. Mr. Carver has two children and two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys golf, ice hockey, fly-fishing, skiing and hunting. He is also an instrument rated private pilot.
