HEALTHWARE SYSTEMS - Key Persons
Brian Schnitker has been with HealthWare Systems since 2002. Initially hired as a Support Engineer, he quickly moved through the ranks to become the Support Team Lead, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Senior Product Manager, and Support Manager. Brian has implemented and supported HealthWare's suite of products for the last twenty-plus years and brings a wealth of invaluable knowledge to his new position.
As a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Brian incorporates the values and teachings of the military into daily operations within the company to ensure that HealthWare Systems' customers receive the best experience as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Kunwar has been programming since high school and has remained in Computer Science since. He learned about HealthWare Systems after seeing a job opening in the local newspaper. "The position was for a Software Architect role," explains Kunwar, who joined HealthWare in 2002. He quickly became an integral part of the team and is currently the Vice President of Software Development for the healthcare revenue cycle technology organization.
"I am responsible for all facets of software development, design and system architecture for the company. All software development and QA teams report to me," says Kunwar.
He is clearly making an impact at HealthWare and growing as an employee along the way. Working at HealthWare Systems has positively contributed to Kunwar's career development:
"The healthcare industry in general has offered a variety of opportunities to learn and grow our knowledge expertise. Over the last twenty years working at HealthWare Systems, I have progressively adapted and adopted various skillsets through these opportunities," says Kunwar. "There are ample opportunities to learn and grow."
Jay recalls many fond memories working at HealthWare Systems. "Managing engineers has been a pivotal experience for me while working here. Another recent great moment was getting the NCQA certification for our CHARLI product," shares Kunwar. CHARLI is a clinical data repository that integrates data from over 90 different clinical organizations, payers, laboratories, and health information exchanges.
Jay has brought so much to the team and the company is grateful to have him as the Vice President of Software Development. We look forward to witnessing more of Kunwar's growth and accomplishments at HealthWare Systems!
Kim Smelley has been with HealthWare Systems since 2012. She has over twenty years' experience in the Health Care Revenue Cycle field focusing on implementation and management of revenue cycle technology products and services.
Kim also has been an active volunteer with the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of HFMA at both the chapter- and state-level over the past 10 years. She served as the 2017-2018 Chapter President and is a current Voting Director and Sponsorship Co-Chair.
