Alex Lowen

As an athlete himself, Alex understands the commitment required to reach physical goals and overcome injury. He draws on this experience in his practice, applying the same principles of elite-level care to every patient. With his passion for sport, Alex has developed industry-leading expertise across movement assessment, muscle balance screening, exercise prescription as well as macro and micro training planning. Understanding the importance of a global, whole-body perspective, Alex believes in the benefits of working alongside a multidisciplinary team, looking at treatment and outcomes from a holistic point of view. While his foundations are in supporting athlete development, Alex's experience in private practice means he has worked with a wide range of clients and injuries, from school-age patients to elderly care and fall prevention. He has a particular understanding of head and neck injuries and rehabilitation. Alex's gentle approach and good sense of humour put patients at ease, and his ability to educate and translate often-complex concepts empowers his patients to take ownership of their own on-going recovery. Alex is the current lead physio for Swimming New Zealand. No stranger to supporting athletes in their pursuit of success, Alex has also worked with local mens and womens club rugby, functional strength Olympic lifters, CrossFit, New Zealand Volleyball, Auckland age-group football and NZ Cheerleaders. A natural athlete himself, Alex has competed at a high level across martial arts, swimming, waterpolo, football, and beach volleyball, and is a qualified snowboard instructor. In contrast to his calm approach in the clinic, Alex's competitive side comes out on the water. His most notable sporting success has been as a New Zealand representative Canoe Polo athlete, competing at the World Championships, World Games and Oceania Champs

Her focus is on supporting and working with you on your rehabilitation journey and takes a holistic approach to find the cause of your problems and work with you to create a plan of action. She will give you the tools to rebuild resilience in your body and help you to move with confidence. Her aim is to put you back in control. Treatments include hands-on manual therapy as well as exercise rehabilitation, often supplemented with her experience in Pilates. Colleen is a keen educator and believes that understanding your ailments increases your ability to control and self-manage your symptoms. Along with educating patients, Colleen has worked extensively as a mentor with trainee and junior physiotherapists. She has a special interest in older adults health/ rehabilitation and is a GLA:D certified practitioner. Her expertise extends across all age groups, drawing on experience gained through treatment of a wide spectrum of conditions. Colleen is a firm believer in the role regular exercise plays in general health and wellbeing. A highlight in her own wellbeing journey was completing the New York City Marathon. She feels that during your rehab journey you need to feel listened to and supported, whether your goal is running a marathon or being able to walk around the block. She looks forward to working with you to achieve and maintain your best health. Colleen is a fully trained, experienced Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor.

Peter Lee

Qualifications: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (University of Otago) Bachelor of Science, Major in Physiology (University of Otago) Post Graduate Certificate in Western Acupuncture (Auckland University of Technology). Registered Physiotherapy Acupuncturist. Physiotherapy Acupuncture Association NZ- Dry needling certificate. Peter strongly believes treating each patient like his family will lead to the best outcome. Through close tailoring of rehabilitation exercises and manual therapy, we aim to reach a function beyond pre-injury. Growing up in a household of acupuncturists, Peter naturally gained an interest in learning about the human body. Understanding of both systemic human physiology and physical musculoskeletal dysfunction has allowed Peter to educate people with chronic health conditions on how to better fit physiotherapy into their lives. Peter has also completed vestibular and concussion courses and is competent in treating patients with head and neck injuries from contact sports or motor vehicle injuries. He has enjoyed working with the NBL Manawatu Jets basketball team for two years and has treated many New Zealand representative basketball and CrossFit athletes. Peter's special interest is in the use of manual and electro-acupuncture to reduce either acute or chronic pain. Acupuncture can be used widely to treat biomechanical dysfunction, chronic inflammatory conditions, and can even be used to initiate proinflammatory responses to treat Post operative keloid scarring. He is continuing to expand his physiotherapy knowledge by studying a Postgraduate Diploma in musculoskeletal and manipulative therapy at AUT this year. Peter is also fluent in Korean and is happy to provide help for people with English as their second language.
