Juanita Lea Hille

Juanita graduated from Sparta Township High School in 1950. She married Kenneth George Hille on December 20 th, 1952 in Sparta. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2015 Her first job at age 16 was a waitress at The Bates Hotel in Sparta, Ill in the dining room. Then, at age 18, she worked as a telephone switch board operator in Sparta. She retired there shortly after 1973. She then went to work at Fabricland in Sparta until 1977. In 1977, the family moved to Seattle, Wa. To be near their first Grandchild. She then worked at the Red Lion Inn as a banquet server. She retired from there around 1990. Juanita was an accomplished artist and seamstress. She also designed and hand-crafted bears and dolls. She has left many beautiful pieces of art, bears, and dolls for her family, which we all treasure. Juanita is survived by her children, Lee Anne (Chris) Martin of Bakersfield, Ca. Mark (Janet) Hille of Bakersfield, Ca. Natalie (Mike) Luthy of Tacoma,Wa. Owen (Dawn) Hille of Burien, Wa. 10 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Calvin Kessel and sister Patsy Glenn, one granddaughter and one great grandson. Her wish was to be cremated. Committal Services will be at Union Cemetery in Sparta, IL on May 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Richard Lyle McIntyre

Richard Lyle McIntyre, 78, of Sparta, IL; born on September 15, 1945 in Sparta, IL, the son of Robert Lyle and Hazel Berniece (Endicott) McIntyre; passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Richard worked as a special education & 6 th grade social studies teacher when he first graduated from college. He then went on to work for the United States Postal Service in 1975 until retiring in 2010. Richard was a collector of many things, but he especially enjoyed collecting Native American artifacts (searching creek beds and fields for arrowheads and other things they used) and postage stamps. There was always a sports car in his possession throughout his entire life, and it always had a rag top roof. He loved to hike and travel on many trips, exploring 48 of the 50 states. He is survived by his loving wife - Janice (Lindenberg) McIntyre of Sparta, IL to whom he married in 1967 in Sparta, IL; two children - Robert Lyle (Victoria) McIntyre of Belen, NM and Carrie Lynne McIntyre of Ashburn, VA; three grandchildren - Reise Linden Wedeking of Carbondale, IL, William "Knox" Cooper of St. Louis, MO, and Lyla Kay Cooper of St. Louis, MO; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Hello McIntyre family. This is Roger Bartram. My mother was Erma McIntyre before marrying my dad. I am not sure but I think that the McIntyres is Sparta were all related. Whatever the case, I hope that your memories of Richard provide you comfort at this most difficult time Reply

Rose Ann Kessel

Rose graduated from Sparta High School and worked as an advocate for DCFS. She also worked as an election judge for nineteen years before calling it quits. Rose loved being around her grandchildren and spending time with her beloved fur baby, Gidget. She is survived by her loving husband - Charles "Chuck" Kessel of Sparta, IL to whom she married on October 16, 1976 in Mississippi County, Arkansas; three children - Jason (Lisa) Kessel, Megan (Larry) Klausing and Ezra (Samantha) Kessel; eight grandchildren - Nick Maurer, Alex Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Allison Kessel, Micah Klausing, Jacob Martin, Korey Klausing, and Lucas Martin. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Renee Schneider; brother, Bill Lenington; numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives. It was her wish to be cremated and there will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
