Dr Andrew Bowes

After celebrating 40 years of working as a GP at HHMP on the 29th of January 2024, Dr Andrew Bowes retired on the 31st of January 2024. Dr Andrew Bowes is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a senior GP and Medical Educator. During his retirement, he will do some rural locum GP roles and continue doing medical education in Sydney and Vietnam. Dr Bowes has held multiple handover sessions with other GPs at HHMP to make sure that his regular patients continue to get seamless care and follow up. Dr Brendan Xu

Dr Brendan Xu holds a Bachelor of Advanced Science and completed his medical studies at The University of Sydney, graduating in 2020. He subsequently did hospital training across a range of specialties in Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Hospital and Ryde Hospital. Dr Xu has developed special interests in chronic disease management, preventive health and aged care where he particularly values a holistic approach towards listening to all of his patients. He loves watching a number of sports but enjoys playing them even more. Whilst always having been an avid tennis player, he has more recently branched out to other sports like volleyball and badminton.

Dr Charbel Badr

Dr Charbel Badr is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), a GP registrar supervisor and medical educator with a Honorary Clinical Lecturer appointment at Macquarie University. He holds a Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine (with Distinction and Academic Medal) from James Cook University as well as Honours degrees in Medicine/Surgery and Physiotherapy from The University of Sydney. During both his Physiotherapy and Medical training, Dr Badr has worked across various specialties at a range of urban and rural locations in NSW and the ACT. He put some of his rural skills to good use when he established and ran a solo community general practice at Wisemans Ferry on the banks of the Hawkesbury River. Dr Charbel Badr is an ac credited GP supervisor and is involved in the training of medical students and general practice registrars. He visits trainees in their practices to provide feedback on consultations and assists with skills workshops organised by GP Synergy. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served as board member of WentWest (a GP training and support organisation) as well as Community Connect (a community transport provider on the Lower North Shore). He is a current member of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) NSW branch Council on General Practice. Charbel sees patients of all ages and especially enjoys looking after families. He loves the continuity of care available in general practice. He has traveled widely and in light of his Tropical Medicine studies is especially skilled at travel medicine consultations. Charbel is on track to achieving his goal of travelling to 50 countries by the age of 50. He is interested in history, renaissance art and architecture. He is married with three children.

Dr Christopher Lam

Dr Christopher Lam (Chris) is a GP with experience across multiple city and rural practices. Chris graduated from the University of Newcastle and completed his hospital years in Hornsby Hospital, Northern Beaches Hospital, Children's Hospital at Westmead and the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Since then he has worked across various general practices around Northern Sydney and in Orange. Chris also works with the Newcastle Knights Rugby League Team as one of their game day doctors. His interests include paediatrics, men's health, musculoskeletal injuries, sports medicine, dermatology and the cardiorespiratory disease. Chris lives locally and enjoys the great outdoors and can be found hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving.

Dr Geoffrey Ye

Dr Geoffrey Ye completed his medical studies at the University of Newcastle in 2019. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at Concord and Canterbury Hospital in Sydney. He has worked across various medical specialties including cardiology, renal medicine, haematology, geriatrics and Emergency medicine. Dr Ye chose to specialise in General Practice and has since done training terms at Castle Hill, Blacktown and Winmalee. He joins HHMP in his final term having already successfully completed his fellowship exams. Geoff has a special interest in paediatrics, preventative health and chronic disease management.

Dr Jade Tsen

After nearly four years of working in marketing as a Brand Manager, Dr Tsen went back to study her medical degree at Flinders University in Adelaide. She graduated with Honours in 2012. Since then, she attained her Diploma of Child Health in 2014 and has completed her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Dr Tsen has worked in various locations around the country including Adelaide, Darwin, Northern NSW and Sydney. The Ryde area, however, has always been home to her having been born and bred locally. She is excited and grateful to be back living locally and providing quality healthcare to her local community. Dr Jade Tsen enjoys all aspects of general practice and believes it is a privilege to care for people of all ages and stages of life. Outside of GP, Jade enjoys all sports, especially touch football and triathlon. She loves spending time doing anything outdoors with her family. While she loves caring for people, she also loves caring for the environment and tries to live as sustainably as possible.

Dr Janice Newton

Dr Janice Newton graduated from The University of Sydney in 1982. After various postings in Sydney, Hong Kong, India, Tibet and London, she returned to Australia in 1994 and started working at Hunters Hill. Now, established at Hunters Hill Medical Practice for over 20+ years, Janice has extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of family care, including Women's Health, Antenatal Shared Care and Aged Care. Dr Newton looks after patients in local nursing homes and admits acute patients to Longueville Private Hospital. Janice is married with 3 daughters and still occasionally finds the time for a quick game of tennis, reading a good book or researching an exotic travel destination. She is also a Justice of the Peace (JP).

Dr Katherine Turner

Dr Katherine Turner completed her medical training at Sydney University in 2001. Prior to this she was a research scientist at Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital and with the Public Health Laboratory in London. She then worked for 2 years with the Gene Therapy Research Unit at the Westmead Children's Hospital, before commencing her medical studies. Originally based at Concord Hospital, Kath has also worked in a number of rural settings including Cootamundra, Broken Hill, Darwin and Alice Springs. Dr Katherine Turner returned to Westmead Children's Hospital in 2004 to advance her interest in paediatrics, completing her Diploma of Child Health in the process. Dr Turner's GP training took her from the Inner West to Muswellbrook to Darlinghurst and eventually to Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2009. She is interested in GP education as a practice visitor for registrars and an examiner for the College Fellowship examination. Kath worked in Summer Hill for over 5 years, before joining us at HHMP in 2011. Dr Katherine Turner enjoys playing hockey and running around after her two beautiful boys.

Dr Leo Tam

Dr Leo Tam first joined Hunters Hill Medical Practice in February 2018 as a registrar. Since then he has completed his GP training and obtained his FRACGP. Leo graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2014 and completed two years of hospital training at Hornsby, Mona Vale and Neringah Hospitals. Leo then worked in various general practices across Sydney, including Emu Plains and the Hawkesbury area before settling at Hunters Hill. He greatly enjoys the diversity of general practice. He has a particular interest in paediatrics, sports medicine and palliative care. He holds a Diploma in Child Health (DCH). He currently consults at St Joseph's (Joeys) boarding school. Outside of work, Leo is an avid sports fan and can be found watching (sometimes playing) a game of soccer, basketball or American football.

Dr Pooja Rastogi

Dr Pooja Rastogi is a GP, who has worked at HHMP since 2022. Pooja grew up and went to school on the North Shore. She completed her Bachelor Of Medical Science from the University of Sydney in 2013 followed by a Doctor Of Medicine in 2017 through The University of Wollongong. She proceeded to train at Royal North Shore Hospital gaining experience in a range of surgical and medical specialties including emergency medicine, geriatrics, colorectal surgery and paediatrics. Dr Pooja Rastogi further developed her skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as a Senior Resident Medical Officer at Westmead Hospital in 2020 where she completed a Certificate in Women's Health (CWH). She has also done extra training in paediatrics completing the Sydney Child Health Program (SCHP). Pooja enjoys the full breadth of general practice and treating patients of all ages. Her special interests include women's health, sexual and reproductive health, paediatrics and dermatology. Outside of work, Pooja enjoys playing all sports but especially swimming, squash and Pilates. She loves to travel and is an enthusiastic foodie who enjoys dining at new restaurants with family and friends.

Dr Sophia Song

Dr Sophia Song graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Medical Studies / Doctor of Medicine. As a junior doctor, she gained a wide range of experience in general medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology. She has completed the Sydney Child Health Program and loves the diversity of seeing patients of all ages and backgrounds. In particular, she enjoys women's health (including performing insertion / removal of Implanon and removal of Mirena), pregnancy care, preventative health and chronic disease management.

Dr Ujvala Rao

Dr Ujvala Rao has worked in multiple hospitals and general practices across NSW. She is a GP with 2 years expereince. Having completed training as a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, she has a strong background and interest in women's health. She has since decided to pursue further training in General Practice. Dr Ujvala Rao made the switch to GP in order to provide care for the whole family. This is one of her greatest interests in medicine. She is looking forward to treating patients throughout their lifecycle from just after birth until old age. Dr Ujvala Rao will be working at Hunters Hill Medical Practice on Tuesdays. She will also visit local nursing homes on Tuesdays. When not working, Ujvala loves getting out and about in nature and spending time with family and friends. Cooking, reading and travelling are other passions.

Dr Victoria Wilkinson

Dr Victoria Wilkinson graduated from the University of NSW in 2005 with 1st Class Honours and the University Medal. Victoria worked for three years at Royal North Shore Hospital completing terms in Paediatrics, Renal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Haematology and Accident and Emergency. In 2009 she was awarded a Diploma in Child Health (Highly Commended). Dr Wilkinson subsequently worked in General Practice in Hornsby, Dubbo and Darwin. In 2010, she was successful in her FRACGP examination and has been at HHMP since. Victoria sees a wide range of patients and focuses on especially young children and families. She also sees patients at local nursing homes and sometimes admits patients to Longueville Private Hospital. Victoria is married with three young boys. When not hard at work, she loves spending time with her family.

Head Nurse

Gabby has recently taken over the head nurse role at HHMP having been with us for over 2 years. She came to HHMP from Concord Hospital with a background in palliative care, neurology and emergency nursing. Gabby has a friendly disposition and her special interests are in diabetes and wound care. When not at work Gabby is with her four children, two cats and her dog.

Katrina Arcus

Katrina Arcus has been with Hunters Hill Medical Practice since 2009 and has been the Practice Manager since 2014. During this period, the practice has experienced significant growth and achieved many milestones. From humble beginnings on the front desk, Katrina always took on extra responsibility and worked in an organised manner. Since then she has completed a Certificate IV in Professional Practice Management through the University of New England. Katrina introduced innovative systems to the practice such as online bookings and self-check in. Her leadership has culminated in Hunters Hill Medical Practice being awarded the prestigious AGPAL Chairman's Practice of the Year, a national award based on quality, systems and innovation. Katrina believes in doing the best for the patient. She is married with 3 incredibly sporty teenage children. When not at work, Katrina is relaxing by the water or watching one of her children compete at various sporting pursuits!

Leigh Davis

Leigh has always been part of the Hunters Hill community having grown up locally and having her children attending local schools. She has worked in multiple executive assistance rolls including with Ernest and Young, Parramatta City Council and for a minister in State Parliament. She has been with Hunters Hill Medical Practice since 2012 and office manager since 2014. She oversees the office and reception operations and is committed to making our patients and their families experience in our practice a positive one.
