Adam Laird

Adam has over 15 years of experience in the Canadian wealth management industry. This experience has been predominately focused on affluent families, providing him a strong background for helping his clients organize and grow their assets smartly and carefully. His philosophical approach fully aligns with HighView's investment philosophy: goals-based, transparent, and objective investment counselling. Adam is determined and entrepreneurial driven. An honours undergraduate degree in business with a concentration in finance provided a strong start in the industry. As a commitment to bettering his clients financial experience, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder - the highest honour and most senior credential in the global investment management industry. Adam continued his academic journey by earning his MBA at Wilfrid Laurier University. Upon completion, his thesis on the Client Relationship Model (Phase II) proved to be very topical and revolutionary, as this financial services regulation is changing the wealth management space in Canada. He combines his vast education and work experiences to deliver tactical and dynamic solutions to generations of family clients. Adam currently resides in his hometown of Oakville, Ontario and currently serves as VP Finance of the Oakville Club.

Cristina Botez

Cristina has over 4 years of experience working within the financial industry with a prominent focus on client service and administration, at custodial firms and banks such as SS&C Technologies and CIBC Investor's Edge. In addition to her experience, she holds an Honors - Bachelor of Commerce degree from Ryerson University in Finance and Operations Management. She is also pursuing additional designations to further her understanding of the financial industry and apply those skills to ensure regulatory requirements are met. Cristina's eagerness to provide outstanding customer experience, along with her attention to detail and organizational skills aid in offering HighView clients the trust and peace of mind they deserve. Cristina enjoys building connections and intends to provide the highest quality client care.

Dan Hallett

Dan Hallett is responsible for manager research, portfolio construction, and investment program design at HighView. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Dan is recognized as an investment expert. His views and opinions are regularly featured in print, TV, radio, and online media. He has contributed research to Morningstar Canada, the Globe & Mail's websites, Canadian MoneySaver magazine, Advisor's Edge magazine, and Advisor's Edge Report. He has also served as a contributor to, or reference for, several best-selling personal finance and investment books. Dan's experiences include roles as a Senior Investment Analyst with Sterling Mutuals Inc. and, before that, with FundMonitor.com Corporation - a Toronto based investment research firm where he was integral in the development of online portfolio analysis tools. Dan led each respective firm's investment research efforts and counselled many of Canada's top financial advisors on portfolio design for their wealthiest clients. Dan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) licensee and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. Dan is a member of the CFA Institute and the Toronto CFA Society.

Gary Brent

Executive Chairman, Chief Strategist and Co-Founder Gary brings over 40 years of experience in the Financial Services sector. Gary brings over 40 years of experience in the Financial Services sector. As Executive Chairman, Chief Strategist and Co-Founder of HighView Financial Group, he is actively engaged in the following areas: The development of HighView's business strategy and value proposition The architecture of goals based portfolio solutions The design of best counseling and stewardship practices The delivery of counseling and stewardship to key clients of the firm The governance of the business as Director & Chairman of the Board of Directors His extensive experience in the financial services sector uniquely equip him to play an important leadership role in evolving the client centric value proposition which enables HighView to excel in the delivery of a truly fiduciary-based Outsourced Chief Investment Officer service, housed within a collaborative Virtual Family Office structure. Prior to co-founding HighView, Gary was Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of RBC Global Private Banking, which included all the groups servicing the discretionary needs of RBC's global high net worth client base: the Domestic Private Bank, the International Private Bank, Royal Trust, and RBC Private Counsel. He also held the position of President and CEO of RBC Private Counsel. Before joining RBC, he had the good fortune to hold the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of CT Investment Management Group, the wealth management division of Canada Trust. This business included the mutual fund group, the trust business, the investment counsel business and the investment management group. The leading edge work, that the CT IMG team undertook, served to set Canada Trust apart, from its competitors, as a provider of client-centric, objective, open-architecture solutions that aligned with their clients' life journeys. Gary developed his investment counseling skills during the outstanding years at TAL Private Management, the private client division of TAL Global asset Management. He moved to Canada Trust after the TAL sale to CIBC. In the years leading up to the creation of HighView, Gary played an instrumental role in the development of a unique Global Wealth Management MBA, at Simon Fraser University. He helped establish and recruit their industry-based Advisory Board, and was Executive-in-Residence for the program. His most interesting role, however, was the opportunity to spend time with the students in discussing industry practices and trends. He and his wife, Deborah, were very pleased to provide for the Brent Scholarship, awarded annually to a very deserving student.

Greg Rodger - Chief Investment Officer

Greg Rodger has three decades of experience in the wealth management industry and has been with HighView since 2007. This experience has encompassed nearly every aspect of investment management, including both traditional and alternative investment research and portfolio construction. Greg has served in senior management roles as well as worked directly with private clients, trusts, and foundations. Greg is responsible for the overall design of the portfolio solutions offered at HighView and has a true passion for working with clients to design portfolios aligned with their unique needs and goals. Having spent nearly two decades at bank-owned Investment Counselling firms as well as a single-family office, Greg has a keen appreciation for the significant benefits of an entrepreneurial firm like HighView to bring to its clients. Greg earned a BA in economics from the University of Toronto in 1985, and in 1991 was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA). He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Toronto CFA Society.

Ian Calvert

As Vice President & Principal, Wealth Planning, Ian works closely with our clients in the design and execution of their investment portfolio and personalized wealth plan. With a passion for a client-first culture, and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, Ian ensures to deliver the highest level of ethical and competent service to all HighView families. In addition to his financial planning experience, Ian is also a holder of the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation. When working directly with HighView clients, Ian embraces the highest standard of care and transparency within the wealth management industry. Taking a personalized and focused approach to all HighView families, Ian stands strongly behind a goal-based, not product-based, financial planning philosophy.

Katherine Santos

Katherine has more than 5 years of experience as a business owner with an extensive focus on administration and operations. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Studies and has received a Post-Baccalaureate certificate In Public Administration & Leadership, from Ryerson University. Her time at Wilfrid Laurier University ignited a passion for travel and has lived abroad for over 2 years, learning about different cultures and developing meaningful relationships. Katherine takes pride in creating organizational processes that work to provide invaluable support to HighView's Co-founders, Executive Management and Counsellors. She is passionate about creating synergy throughout all functions to ensure effective and efficient organizational systems.

Loren Francis

Loren has worked in the capital markets for over 30 years as a relationship and portfolio manager and as an investment banker. Loren is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (FCPA/FCA), holds the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation and completed her MBA at the University of Toronto. She has been advising high net worth clients and foundations since 2003. At HighView, Loren works closely with families and foundations in all aspects of investment counselling, portfolio design and allocation and wealth stewardship. She is also a member of the HighView Portfolio Strategy Committee which leads the way to ensure HighView makes the right investment decisions to meet clients' needs and goals, including analysis and due diligence on investment manager selection, adjusting to shifting markets, working closely with the investment managers they recommend, and monitoring process and performance. Loren believes that goals based needs assessment, combined with transparency and stewardship, results in sustainable investment assets and peace of mind that clients are seeking. Loren has over 20 years of experience as a board director in the not-for-profit sector. Loren serves on the Canadian Advisory Board of Right to Play, a charity dedicated to empowering children in disadvantaged communities through play. She previously served on the Oakville Hospital Foundation Board for 9 years (2008-2017), and the Finance, Risk, Audit and Investment Committee of the Oakville Hospital Foundation for 8 years (2008-2016). Loren was on the Investment Committee of the Oakville Community Foundation for 3 years (2013-2016), and she is a past board member, Co-Chair Fundraising, and Chair of the Investment Committee of Sheena's Place, a not-for-profit supporting patients and their families suffering from eating disorders (2002-2009).

Lucie Rivest

Lucie is a bilingual (French/English) finance leader with 20 years of diverse analytical and management experience in accounting and reporting for large complex organizations. Her expertise focuses on working with finance leaders and business owners to create synergies across the organization to improve efficiencies and reduce expenses through process improvements and automation. She creates long-term, scalable systematic solutions. Lucie's other areas of expertise include business integrations, planning, audits, reporting, and cash flow management. Lucie has had the opportunity to work in diverse market segments including retail (The Bay, easyhome), not-for-profit (SickKids Foundation), process automation and controls (Invensys), and financial and service organizations. Lucie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Hautes Etudes Commercial -Montreal campus business school, as well as a Chartered Accountant degree from the same institution. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. She is also involved in multiple philanthropic and volunteer organizations.

Mark Barnicutt - CEO, Founder, President

With over thirty years of North American wealth management experience as both an entrepreneur and corporate executive, Mark has been afforded a unique and diversified set of career opportunities that has included both managing client wealth as well as building wealth management businesses in Canada and the United States. Mark is the President, CEO and Co-Founder of HighView Financial Group, an experienced investment counselling firm, acting as an outsourced Chief Investment Officer, that designs, implements, and helps manage tailored investment portfolio for family and foundation clients since 2005. In his role, Mark is actively engaged in the ongoing evolution of HighView's business growth strategy, board governance and firm operations as well as being the practice lead for HighView's Virtual Family Office services. Mark is an alumnus of the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor where he earned his Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration degrees. Prior to attending the University of Windsor, Mark completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Western Ontario. Mark holds the designation Chartered Financial Analyst through the CFA Institute, and a Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring through the Schulich School of Business. Mark is a past member of the Advisory Board of the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor and a past Director of the Board of the Portfolio Management Association of Canada.

Meagan Taylor

With strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, Meagan has a proven track record of managing complex matters pertaining to high net-worth needs. Meagan has spent the majority of her career building successful client relationships at both TD Wealth Private Banking and RBC Financial Planning. Throughout her extensive career, she has created real value for her clients by focusing on what her client's value most. Meagan is passionate about learning what matters to her clients and working with them to create the lifestyle and legacy goals her clients aspire to achieve for themselves, their families, and their businesses. Meagan holds an Honours Bachelor Undergraduate Degree from McMaster University where she studied Marketing and Communications. Years later, Meagan went back to school full time to pursue a Master's Degree in Business Management graduating from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, Wilfrid Laurier University with an MBA where she specialized in the streams of marketing and strategy. Born and raised in Guelph Meagan now resides in Milton with her son Mason and Pomeranian Minnie. When not in the office, Meagan enjoys spending time at her family cottage near Parry Sound, travelling to new places, watching the Toronto Raptors and Toronto FC, and cheering on the sidelines for her son who plays competitive soccer.

Phil Marynowicz

Phil joined HighView in 2017 as an Investment Administrator and has since transitioned to his current role as a Portfolio Analyst. As a Portfolio Analyst, Phil supports the research team with external manager due diligence, analysis on current and potential investments, performance reporting, and collaborates with portfolio managers to develop and implement investment strategies. He is also responsible for the maintenance and data integrity of the portfolio management system and supports various operational areas within the portfolio implementation process. Phil holds a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies with a specialization in Finance from Western University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the Toronto CFA Society.

Sarina Senra

Sarina Senra joined the HighView team in 2014 and is currently the Manager, Business Services for HighView Financial Group. Applying her organizational skills and strong work ethic to initiate and foster change management processes, Sarina is responsible for the Business Services Administration and Client Service teams to ensure that the overall support to HighView clients, HighView Co-Founders, Stewardship Counsellors and Portfolio Managers, functions effectively and efficiently. With over 20 years of administration and finance experience she has successfully guided teams with companies such as easyhome Ltd, Canada Cartage, and First Canadian Title. Her positive personality and focus on customer service adds greatly to her well-respected leadership skills. Sarina aims to provide an efficient professional office environment and effectively support the relationship management of our clients and partners which will assist in ultimately providing the peace of mind HighView strives for.
