George Russell

For his profound influence on several generations of engineers, Professor George Russell has been inducted into the Idaho Engineering Hall of Fame. His selection was made by consensus of the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE). As professor of civil engineering at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Professor Russell has been teacher, mentor and role model. In his career of more than 55 years, he actively promoted ethics, professionalism, and engineering licensure. In 1967, he became assistant dean of the College of Engineering, then served as associate dean from 1980 until his retirement in 1985. Russell has served his profession as vice president of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), as president and national director of ISPE, and chair of the Professional Engineers in Education Practice Division. He was twice appointed to the Idaho State Board of Registration of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors. His public service is equally extensive, including service to Moscow's Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Council and City Council. He has served as Acting Mayor of Moscow and has received numerous distinguished service awards for his work. Maintaining the Engineering Hall of Fame is only one of the activities of the only society in Idaho to represent all engineering disciplines. ISPE works to ensure public safety by promoting quality engineering and increasing the expertise of Idaho's engineers. The organization contributes to the public's understanding of how engineers and engineering affect the daily lives of Americans. Growing the next generation of engineers by providing programs for elementary through high school students is also central to the mission of the society.

Keith Anderson

Quality engineering work and public service were the criteria that won Keith Anderson induction to the Idaho Engineering Hall of Fame. His selection was made by consensus of the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE). This peer-nominated honor recognizes outstanding contributions to the profession and national or international achievement in the practice of engineering. Anderson's engineering career spans some 60 years, beginning with the state and federal governments. He founded Anderson & Kelly Consulting Engineers and served as president. He later served as vice president of James M. Montgomery Consulting Engineers. Anderson is still active as a senior consultant to Montgomery Watson Harza in Boise. Anderson's many technical and professional achievements include the large-scale development of geothermal energy for space heating in Boise and project management of the water supply construction of the Clearwater National Fish Hatchery north of Orofino. He designed the Bell Rapids Mutual Irrigation Company that supplied water to 25,000 acres of undeveloped federal land in one of the first "high-lift" irrigation projects along the Snake River in Southern Idaho. Anderson also served as a member of the Boise City Council and as Chairman of the Snake River Technical Advisory Committee, to which he was appointed by Governor John Evans. He also served on the Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors of the Boise Philharmonic Association.
