CREATIVE DIRECTOR • DESIGNER • DIGITAL SOLUTIONS SPECIALIST Jan Carpenter Tucker is J.L. Carpenter Design, a woman- and minority-owned sole proprietorship. Since 1983, Jan serves a wide array of clients including business-to-business, consumer, high technology, healthcare, nonprofits and more. Through bright, bold graphic design and strategic communication methods, Jan helps clients promote products and services through Jan Carpenter was listed in "Outstanding Young Women of America" and received awards of excellence and honor for her design work, including the Edward L. Bernays Award of Excellence in the Public Service Programs category from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), San Diego Chapter. EDUCATION Valedictorian of her 8th grade class and National Honor Society member in high school, Jan Carpenter attended United States International University in San Diego and Columbia College in Chicago; then received her Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) in Graphic Design and her Master of Arts degree in Environmental Design from San Diego State University. She has also studied filmmaking, ballet, modern dance and theater, and completed courses in leadership, supervision, business entrepreneurship and conflict management. Jan Carpenter Tucker is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). She was a representative for Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) through the San Diego Unified School District. She served on several boards of directors and advisory boards, including Waters of Jordan Enrichment Center, the Black Infant Health Program of San Diego County, Community Film Workshop of Chicago, International Association of Business Communicators, Art & Soul (Teen Education and Outreach), the Urban League of San Diego County Equal Opportunity Awards Dinner and the Fourth District Seniors Resource Center's Gems & Jewels fundraiser. She co-founded and held various offices in IMAGE (a San Diego-based interracial family group), and co-founded its national group, the Association of MultiEthnic Americans (AMEA). She has served in numerous leadership capacities for her condominium association and church.
