JOMA Arts & Consulting, LLC was founded in 1998 by John L. Moore, III and Mary (Imani) Drayton-Hill, as the JOMA Arts Group in Washington D.C. They originally conceived JOMA as an independent, commercial-theatrical production company, focused on works from the African diaspora. It was to be locally based but nationally focused. In December of 1998, JOMA offered its first project as a test of the concept: a staged reading of Kenneth Carroll's "Make my Funk the P-funk", in cooperation with the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company... We work to support independent and collaborative efforts that create quality artistic productions or events. These projects reflect the experiences within our increasingly diverse communities... offers clients long-term guidance, and support to solve problems, improve capacity, that lead to effective outcomes. We also provide short-term support and strategies to develop and implement successful projects, or solve immediate problems.
