Craig has over 27 years experience in railroad construction and is responsible for estimating, purchasing and supervising construction. Craig has been working for J A Placek since 1979 and has served as Project Manager for the following projects such as: San Diego Trolley, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles, Union Pacific Railroad, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Company and all industrial / maintenance projects. He is also qualified under sub-paragraph 213.7 of the FRA Track Safety Standards.

James A. Placek - President

Mr. Placek is the founder of J.A. Placek. He has over 45 years experience in all phases of railroad work including new railroad construction, repairs maintenance and estimating.

Ken Placek

Ken has 27 years experience in all phases of railroad construction, including new construction, repairs, maintenance and estimating. Previous projects include Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, Port of Long Beach, and Los Angeles Beach Harbor. He also has previous experience as a track inspector for Caltrain South CTX and P.O.L.A. Pier 400 Rail Corridor. He is also qualified under sub-paragraph 213.7 of the FRA Track Safety Standards.

Sergio Varela

Sergio has a BS in Civil Engineering and is responsible for designing, estimating, and supervising construction. Sergio came to work for J.A. Placek in 1994 and has served as Project Manager on numerous projects such as: Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles, Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority, Alameda Corridor East, SCRRA-Metrolink, CalTrans, San Diego Trolley, Metropolitan Water District, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Company, Union Pacific Railroad. He is also qualified under sub-paragraph 213.7 of the FRA Track Safety Standards.
