Jimmy Carter, a third generation Californian born in the Hillcrest neighborhood, originally launched our location as an American eatery, with a second Mexican Café-inspired by his childhood visits to Ramona's Kitchen in Old Town-on Washington Street. As time evolved, Jimmy merged the two menus, offering the ever-popular traditional American breakfasts alongside the authentic Mexican food dishes. Today, Jimmy Carter's Mexican Café is a beloved mainstay in the Banker's Hill/Hillcrest neighborhood with a dedicated family of loyal customers who return time and again to reunite with the staff and relish the food... Jimmy Carter's Cantina is the place you never knew you wanted to be. The bar itself is a cozy, comfortable and welcoming.
