Amanda Thomas has been a paralegal at The J. Murphy Firm since March of 2012. She has come to recognize that hiring an attorney more often than not is the result of a painful life event. She feels honored when a client puts their trust in her and The J. Murphy Firm to rebuild their lives after a serious injury. She will use her experience to listen to you, take the time to explain things to you, and will be there to help guide you through the legal process. Amanda has a bachelor's degree in Legal Studies from Point Park University and is looking forward to finally being able to step into the courtroom to represent clients when she graduates from Duquesne University School of Law in 2020. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys the great outdoors, cooking, and spending quality time with her two rescue cats, Rick and Daryl.

April Stein

April Stein joined The J. Murphy Firm in 2016 as a legal assistant. Before joining The J. Murphy Firm, April spent 17 years working in the hospitality industry, where she developed her listening and critical-thinking skills. Those skills now allow April to provide the firm with solid and reliable assistance as well as serving as a compassionate ear to our clients. She graduated from Northgate High School located in Pittsburgh, PA in 1999 and is currently working on her BS in Business Management at Point Park University. April's desire to help others extends to her personal life as well, in her spare time she volunteers at local animal shelters and helps to organize fundraisers to raise money for charities that help the less fortunate in the Pittsburgh area. Joseph Murphy, "Joe" is the Managing Attorney and Founder of The J. Murphy Firm. It is Joe's mission to listen to you, to explain the process, and to support you through the case. Joe, his staff, and all of The J. Murphy attorneys provide concierge level legal services, treating clients with the same competence, compassion, and care that they would provide to a family member or loved one. This means legal services that are provided in a novel and supportive way - something unusual in the legal business. He graduated from Duquesne University Law School in 1998 with distinction. During the credit crisis of the late 2000's, Joe was recognized for providing pro bono legal services to people in serious need. Joe's legal arguments have been incorporated into a number of published opinions on subjects as diverse as real estate law and consumer protection law. He has been published twice in Juris Magazine. Joe clerked for Justice Russell M. Nigro on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and worked in private practice after graduating from law school. When founding The J. Murphy Firm in 2000, Joe envisioned a law firm that would provide a friendly, comfortable, supportive, and safe environment for his clients. The J. Murphy Firm is the realization of that vision.
