Aidan Jenkin

Originally from Deniliquin, Aidan commenced with Johnsons MME in 2012. He completed his Bachelor of Business (Accounting/Finance) with distinction from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga and was admitted to the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2013. He was appointed as a Manager in July 2016 and serves on the Chartered Accountants Albury/Wodonga regional committee. Aidan became a Director of Johnsons MME on 1 July 2023. Aidan leads our Business Performance team, utilising his skills and experience to support our clients with unlocking the full potential of their business. Overseeing our Finance Strategy and Digital Experience services, Aidan assists clients to adopt modern technology-based solutions to improve decision making by achieving efficiency and accuracy in their business processes. He works with clients of varying size and in a range of industries including: land development corporate agriculture transport construction & trades Not-for-Profit sectors

Alison Copland

Alison commenced work with the former firm Coopers & Lybrand in 1995 after completing a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) at Charles Sturt University in Albury. She was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1998. Alison works in the area of business and taxation services as an Assistant Manager using her skills to help and guide a wide range of clients particularly within the local primary production industry. She is originally from Khancoban.

Annie Tonta

Annie's main focus area is in finance strategy and performance by being involved as an internal finance function, high level reporting and mentoring clients in accounting processes and the use of accounting software. Outside of work, Annie enjoys spending time with her family in both Albury and Deniliquin.

Cameron Adams

Cameron joined Johnsons MME as an assistant accountant in July 2015 after working in hospitality through University. Cameron completed a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) at Charles Sturt University Albury/Wodonga and has completed his Chartered Accountants course. Cameron primarily works in business and taxation services working with a wide range of clients, particularly from the primary production, construction & transport industries. Cameron has grown up in Albury and enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf at the Albury Golf Club.

Chad Rigoni

Chad, born in Myrtleford, completed his Bachelor of Business (Accounting) at Charles Sturt University Albury/Wodonga and was admitted to full membership of CPA Australia in 2010. He commenced work with Johnsons MME in 2011 as a Supervisor and was promoted to Manager in 2014. Chad became a Director of Johnsons MME on 1 July 2023. Chad works in the area of business and taxation services, using his skills to assist and guide a wide range of clients particularly those in the transport, construction, manufacturing and primary production industries. With an understanding of key business and taxation issues including succession planning, Chad provides an opportunity for businesses to achieve their goals, no matter where they are in their business lifecycle.

Charlotta (Lottie) Blomqvist

Lottie was born and raised in Finland but calls herself an Albury local since 2011. Lottie joined Johnsons MME in 2014 as an assistant accountant, and specialises in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds.

Dale Goonan

Dale, from Myrtleford, was first employed by Johnsons MME in July 2003 as a Junior Accountant. He was appointed as a Manager in July 2012 and then a Director of Johnsons MME on 1 July 2018. Dale completed his Bachelor of Business (Accounting) in 2008 and was admitted to the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand in 2010. He also holds a Diploma in Sustainability which he gained in 2011. Dale works in the area of business and taxation services, using his skills in these areas to assist and guide a variety of clients. He is also called upon at times to help with work in connection with carbon and sustainability business services. Dale has represented the Albury Northside Chamber of Commerce on the Sustainability Advisory Committee with Albury City and is the chair of the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand Albury Wodonga Group. He also has a new interest in Digital Currency.

Daniel Salmon

Danny has completed a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) and superannuation advisory studies with Kaplan Professional Education and has been working in Financial and Business Services since 1990. Danny has extensive experience in providing personalised advice in relation to small business advisory, taxation advice, business and succession planning, Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF's), administration and compliance, retirement, and estate planning.

Gary Essex

Originally from Yarrawonga, Gary completed all his education in Yarrawonga, finishing with his final two senior years at Galen College Wangaratta. Gary received his Bachelor of Commerce in 1985 after studying at the University of Melbourne. He also became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in 1991. Gary commenced work with our antecedent firm, Coopers & Lybrand in January 1985 as an auditor, progressing to the role of audit manager by 1990. After a short time overseas, Gary transferred to business services and now focuses on advising small and medium businesses in taxation and other business related matters. Gary was first admitted as Partner in 2000 and was the Managing Director at Johnsons MME from 2011 to 1 July 2022. Gary deals with a wide range of clients, including primary producers, transport operators, builders, motor vehicle dealers, irrigation operators, estate and stock & station agents, licensed premises, legal practitioners and medical professionals, as well as investor clients. Gary has been involved in negotiations with Treasury and senior ATO Officers regarding various taxation issues including complex CGT matters for both small and large businesses alike. Gary has also done several presentations to various industry groups, focusing on taxation or other business related matters.

Joy Lee

Joy was born in Albury and grew up on a farm in Brocklesby. She attended Albury High School and after completing her higher school certificate, she commenced a traineeship with Coopers & Lybrand in Albury. She spent her first two years working full-time and studying part-time at Riverina College of Advanced Education (now Charles Sturt University). She then moved to Wagga to complete her degree full-time and thereafter returned to Albury to take up a position at Coopers & Lybrand. Joy is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Taxation Institute. She is an Assistant Manager working in business and taxation services for a wide range of clients. She also assists in providing valuation services and fringe benefits tax advice. Outside of work, Joy plays tennis and tries to get to the gym. She also loves to travel.

Kristian Hedin

Originally from Mansfield, Kristian completed his Bachelor of Business at RMIT in 1986. Initially working for Insolvency firm Neville Bird Clarke & Co before moving to KPMG working in Business Services focusing on tax and small business, and becoming a Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1993. In 1995 he joined Chisholm Partners (formerly Heslop & McLeish) Chartered Accountants in Wangaratta as Manager, then progressing to partner in 1999 and continuing in this role until 2021. Kristian has serviced a wide range of clients, including primary production, construction, medical practitioners. Married to Jackie, a father of 5 and grandfather of 2, he is looking forward to spending more time in the outdoors with family. After serving as president, treasurer, board member, league delegate, coach, umpire, water boy and everything in between Kristian was made a Life Member of Wangaratta & District Junior Football League in 2011.

Liz Hoffman

Liz was born in Melbourne but moved to Albury with her parents as a child. Liz attended primary and secondary school in North Albury before embarking upon a Traineeship with Coopers & Lybrand in Albury in 1987. The following year, Liz started her Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) at the Charles Sturt University Albury campus; a qualification she completed in 1991. Melbourne beckoned Liz and she departed Coopers & Lybrand to work for a boutique accounting firm in South Yarra for two years. She returned to the fold in August 1994 and has completed over twenty years of service. Liz's current role as Assistant Manager has her working in the area of Business and Taxation Services for a variety of clients. Outside of work, Liz keeps busy playing tennis, indulging in travel and supporting her favourite AFL team, Geelong.

Michael Darmody

Michael grew up on a sheep and cattle farm in Leneva, which his parents continue to operate to this day. Michael started at Johnsons MME in January 2004 after completing his schooling in Wodonga. Subsequent qualifications include a Bachelor of Business (Accounting/Business Management) from Charles Sturt University, as well as being a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Michael works in the area of business and taxation services, providing ongoing assistance to a range of clients from various industries, including farming operations, transport businesses, investment clients, builders and contractors to name a few. Michael has a strong involvement with the sport of hockey in the area, previously holding the position of Director of Finance on the Hockey Albury Wodonga association board, as well as being President, Treasurer, and a general committee member from time to time with his local club, the Wodonga Hockey Club.

Nick Sheridan

Nick predominantly works in Audit and Assurance and has experience in supervising and managing audit engagements in various industries, including local government, health, manufacturing, construction, aged care schools, registered licensed clubs and not for profit organisations. Outside of work Nick enjoys spending time with his young family, and is actively involved in sporting clubs including the Lavington Panthers Football Club and Albury Cricket Club.

Pauline Goonan - Managing Director

Paul Goonan was born in Myrtleford and completed his schooling locally at St Mary's Primary School and Marian College. Through his childhood experiences in Myrtleford, Paul has a well-honed passion and commitment to regional communities and businesses. Paul was employed by Coopers & Lybrand, Johnsons MME's antecedent firm, in July 1993 as a trainee accountant. He started his accountancy career studying at Charles Sturt University in Albury while working and was admitted as a Chartered Accountant in May 2000. Paul qualified as a Certified Internal Auditor in June 2009. Paul was made a Partner of Johnsons MME on 1 July 2010. Paul's expertise is in business advisory services and internal audit. Paul is interested in sustainable business services and has been instrumental in introducing a number of new ideas to the Johnsons MME office to reduce operating costs, positive environmental outcomes and develop our carbon accounting service offerings. Paul has undertaken a number of coaching assignments working with businesses to set goals and implement strategies to achieve those goals. Originally from Deniliquin, Pauline commenced a traineeship with the former firm Coopers & Lybrand in 1997. She completed her Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Charles Sturt University and was admitted to the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2006. Pauline works in the area of business and taxation services as an Assistant Manager. She has recently returned to Johnsons MME after an extended maternity leave break. Rod Mullavey

Rod was born in Holbrook and after his school days in Leeton and Albury, he completed his accounting degree at the Riverina College of Advanced Education in Wagga Wagga. Rod was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (now known as Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand) in 1983 and was advanced to the status of a Fellow of the Institute in 1996, recognising his contribution to the profession and his community involvement. Rod became a partner in the Albury office of Coopers & Lybrand in 1987, and he remained as a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers following the merger of the two big 4 accounting firms. He was the Managing Partner of the firm for 12 years, including at the time Johnsons MME became a locally owned practice in 2000. After an illustrious career spanning decades of dedication and expertise, Rod retired on 1 July 2023 Rod practiced in the Business Services division of the firm, providing tax and business advice to emerging family owned business clients in a diverse range of industries. He has wonderful clients in the farming, manufacturing and building industries and provides the full range of services to those businesses. Rod has a particular strength in succession planning involving restructuring and business planning, being able to build relationships with the different generations within family groups to enhance the likely success of the process. He is involved in providing advice to businesses on structures, taxation, and strategies for improved business outcomes. Rod has a strong belief in the local region. His decades of strong involvement in Ovens & Murray Australian Rules attest to that. Rod has held the role of Chairman of Selectors for the North Albury Football Club and the Ovens & Murray Representative team and he has also been a selector at Victorian Country level. He is a life member of the North Albury Football Club. He now currently sits on the Board of the Albury Race Club.

Ryan Giles

Stephen Clarke

Stephen was born in Bendigo but moved with his family to Wodonga at an early age. He attended Wodonga Primary School and Wodonga West High School, before moving to Melbourne to complete his university studies at Victoria University. He graduated there with a Bachelor of Business in 1993. Stephen continued his studies and became a Certified Practising Accountant in 2003, a Registered Company Auditor in 2004 and a Certified Internal Auditor in 2005. Stephen is also a registered Greenhouse Energy auditor and a registered SMSF Auditor. While completing his studies in Melbourne, Stephen commenced working at Ernst & Young, before returning to Albury and joining Coopers & Lybrand, our antecedent firm, in August 1993, as an accountant in the audit division. He was promoted to manager in 1997 and admitted as a partner to Johnsons MME in 2004. Stephen works fully in our Audit and Assurance division as the Lead Engagement Partner on a number of our audit clients. Stephen is married to Michelle and has four children. He spends a lot of his time following his children in their own sporting pursuits, but also has a keen interest in his own leisure activities of Wodonga Raiders Football/Netball Club, horse racing and the Hawthorn Football Club. Following on from his leisure time activities, Stephen is currently coaching junior football sides for Wodonga Raiders and is an active member of the Wodonga Raiders Past Players Committee, and is Deputy Chair on the AFL North East Border Commission.

Tash Battye

Originating from Cootamundra, Tash has a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Swinburne University of Technology and works in business and taxation. Tash works with clients from a range of industries and is particularly passionate about supporting small and medium businesses and their owners to achieve their personal and professional goals by exploring growth and sustainability strategies. In addition to her work with clients, she is also enthusiastic about corporate culture, driving high-performing teams and fostering a positive work environment. Outside of work, Tash enjoys being active in the local sporting community, including coaching and playing at the Corowa Cougars Rugby League Club and participating in social sports including Albury touch football, netball, and volleyball.
