Late Shri Sudershan Kumar Mahajan was among the most venerated senior business leaders in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. He got involved in the family business of timber from his youth and worked assiduously to make it a leading timber company in North India with its forest leases spread over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Mr. Raju Chowdhary is the Managing Director of the KC Group -- a leading industrial house in the state of J&K exclusively owned and managed by Shri Sudershan Kumar Mahajan & Mr. Raju Chowdhary. He joined the family business of timber after graduating in Economics with Honours from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University.
In the past 3 decades, he has taken numerous initiatives in the field of business and industry with many firsts such as setting up a plywood factory, a ferro-alloys plant and a shopping mall-cum-multiplex in J&K. Under his dynamic leadership, KC group has diversified into varied fields of commerce and industry such as automobile dealership, steel, plywood and pharmaceuticals. KC Central was the first mall & multiplex to come up in J&K followed by KC Sports Club, a world class indoor-outdoor sports complex and Hotel Ramada Jammu City Center.
He has travelled all over the world for business and recreation. A keen golfer, he rues the fact that he gets to play only on Sundays owing to his hectic schedule. Social causes are his passion. The KC Educational Society, of which he is the Chairman, is a non-profit trust under the aegis of which 3 premium institutions are functioning in the State. These are KC Public School, KC Law College and KC College of Education. All the three institutes are leaders in their respective fields. In recognition of his significant contribution to industrial growth in J&K, he was awarded the Udyog Ratna Award in 2006-07 by the then CM of J&K, Jenab Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
