Timber Creek is located approximately 300km west of Katherine along the Victoria Highway. The township is a service centre for several Aboriginal communities and outstations. It also attracts tourists travelling between Katherine and the Western Australian border. The health centre is staffed by a health centre coordinator, doctor, remote area nurses and support staff. It is regularly visited by specialist services and various KWHB program staff.
