Attorney Taubel, an associate with the firm, practices in the areas of general litigation, personal injury, and estate, trust & probate litigation. Mr. Taubel graduated from Ave Maria School of Law in 2018 and served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Stoney L. Hiljus in Kanabec County, Minnesota, where he worked on diverse legal issues from a neutral, judicial perspective. He worked as a prosecutor for the Winona County Attorney's Office for a short time, handling traffic court and other misdemeanor matters. Mr. Taubel joined the firm as a full-time associate in April of 2020 after being admitted to the Bar.
Mr. Taubel has worked on litigation involving slip-and-fall, automobile accidents, challenges to trust administration and estate probates, breach of contract, and small claims matters, as well misdemeanor criminal prosecutions.
From 1895 to today, three generations of the Fugina family have been privileged to serve as attorneys at law in Fountain City, Wisconsin. Martin L. Fugina (1895-1952), Marvin L. Fugina (1935-1988) and David J. Fugina (1968-present). During this time, the Fugina family has had many interesting issues come across their desks, including pigs in the street, summer dust choking the citizenry as horses and wagons pass up and down the dirt streets, to issues of the 21st century such as recycling, improvement to roads and highways, zoning issues regarding our beautiful bluffs, to million-dollar utility projects.
Mr. Fugina joined O'Flaherty, Heim, & Curtis, Ltd. of counsel in January of 2017 after closing the doors to his long-standing practice, Fugina Law Office. After the firm transition in 2020, he became an of counsel attorney with Curtis Law Firm, LLC. He serves as expert counsel on tax matters and municipal matters, and he provides service to many of his long-standing clients for their various legal issues. His wealth of experience and knowledge is a resource to all of our clients.
Gerard O'Flaherty is a senior member of the firm who has served as its President and Chairman of the Board. Mr. O'Flaherty works with the firm's estate planning, corporate and business practice groups. His practice primarily involves all aspects of estate and trust planning, commercial transactions, business formation and real estate matters. Mr. O'Flaherty is licensed to practice in Wisconsin as well as Minnesota, where he resides.
Mr. O'Flaherty graduated with honors from Marquette University Law School where he served as associate editor of the Marquette Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from St. Mary's College. Mr. O'Flaherty is a member of the American Bar Association, the Minnesota Bar Association, State Bar of Wisconsin, Third District Bar Association in Minnesota and the La Crosse County Bar Association. Currently, Mr. O'Flaherty is active with expanding the law firm's estate and trust practices and is a regular presenter of seminars on estate planning topics with a special focus on retirement plan distributions to community and professional groups.

Patricia M. Heim (Of Counsel) is a senior member of the firm. She heads up the firm's family law practice group. Her practice is limited to divorce and family law matters. Ms. Heim practices in the state of Wisconsin.
Ms. Heim is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. She is a recipient of the State Bar President's Award and a past president of the La Crosse County Bar Association. Ms. Heim authored the family law chapter of the Annual Survey of Wisconsin Law from 1989 to 2016. She is also a presenter of seminars on family law topics.

Sean O'Flaherty joined O'Flaherty, Heim, & Curtis, Ltd. in 2001 and became a shareholder in 2005. He is now the sole member of O'Flaherty Law, LLC which started practice in July of 2020. Sean represents many local and regional businesses and actively advises them regarding corporate structure, corporate governance, managing credit, mergers and acquisitions and succession planning. Sean represents several highly regarded financial institutions. Sean has served as City Attorney of the City of Onalaska since 2004. Sean regularly drafts and reviews complex banking, development, computer technology, and biotechnology contracts for local companies. Sean is licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the La Crosse County Bar Association. Prior to returning to La Crosse, Sean was employed by the law firm of Windels Marx Lane and Mittendorf, LLP in New York City where he concentrated on real estate financing.
