Now in 2012 we are designing products that are what I was aiming for. Not too kitschy, somewhat whimsical, about nature and wild animals...
Still we operate with only 5 employees, making fine pewter items in a small corner of a big factory. If there was more demand I would need to take on more workers and do more production. Then where would I find the time to create new designs? Bigger is not always better...
I had always been interested in Pewter, which my sister and her husband were making in Tasmania. More or less as a hobby, I persuaded them to teach us about design, mould making and finishing pewter products. Our first model was a dried sea-horse found washed up on a beach in Tasmania.
