Time began, but will never stop: it roams freely over civilisations, over generations. Although born of nothing and heading inexorably to nothingness, it exists only in the forms we wish to give it. Man wished to master time: he saw this to be essential. Yet in doing so, he has become its servant, by creating objects to record its passing.
