Lighthouse Family Network has a very special way of recruiting foster parents. We recruit our families from throughout the Christian community. We are always looking for opportunities to share this ministry with churches, Bible school classes, ladies or men's groups and other groups within churches. If you would be interested in having a representative of Lighthouse Family Network come and speak to your congregation or group, please call us at (888) 908-1212. Early on in this ministry we decided to trust God to find and bring foster families to Lighthouse. We have, therefore, chosen not to spend large amounts of money on radio, television or other media. Instead, we have focused our recruitment efforts to prayer time at each of our weekly staff meetings. During prayer time, we pray for the needs of our children, our families and other needs of which we are aware (if you have matters you would like for us to pray about, email us and we will add you to our prayer list). That God will reveal clearly to families if foster care is the ministry He has for them. That God will bring to Lighthouse those parents that He has called to care for children through this ministry. Everything at Lighthouse centers around Christ and His call on us. In that regard, our mission involves Christian foster care. In addition, our philosophy is family-centric and recognizes the importance of the Foster Parents as the first line of treatment and care. We equip our Foster Parents with fundamental principals that help them to affect real change in the lives of the children in their care. In addition to the treatment services provided, we believe that the schools are an integral part to the child's treatment because education plays such a critical role in the child's treatment and overall development. While the majority of our funding comes through a contract with the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, we also have several corporate friends that donate in many ways to support the children and families in our network. We also receive generous gifts from private individuals who desire to make an impact on foster children in our care.
