Casey Atkins

Casey Atkins serves as President of the Blue Lab and Vice President at Liberty Square Group. She has nearly two decades of experience in politics, non-profit development and government relations. She has served as an advisor and staff to numerous federal, state and local campaigns. Casey also served as the Deputy Director of Policy and Boards at the Division of Professional Licensure, a sub agency of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing & Economic Development during Governor Patrick's second term in office. Prior to that, Casey was the Director of Government Relations at ADS Ventures, where she managed the integration of state and federal government relations, strategic communications and development efforts for a range of corporate and non-profit clients. In her time at Blue Lab, Casey formalized the training curriculum and expanded the program nationally. Casey is also a volunteer at Emerge Massachusetts, where she conducts the kick off training for the organization's Signature Program for candidates. She is passionate about local politics and She is an active board member of the Special Education Parent Advisory Council in her town and attempts to coach youth soccer. Casey resides in Concord with her two children and "spirited" dogs.

Eric Demmers Chast - COO

Eric Demmers Chast is an expert in operations, budgeting & finance, and organizational behavior. He excels at finding efficiencies and building systems in rapidly changing environments, allowing entrepreneurial organizations the ability to invest the most in their team and their growth. Demmers Chast is an experienced Democratic campaign manager and nonprofit administrator. He has managed the payroll and HR compliance department of a national field campaign organization with an over 75 salaried employees across a dozen states and a seasonal hourly payroll with a monthly range of over $1 million. He has overseen budgeting and operations for a $1.5 million statewide advocacy organization during which he worked lockstep with the Executive Director to maintain staffing levels and increase programming during a period of reduced funding. With LSG, Demmers Chast revamped staff policies, procedures, and benefits, cut costs to reinvest in staff, and run day-to-day operations and budgeting as the team has doubled in size. Demmers Chast has staffed, managed, or consulted on nearly 40 Democratic campaigns since joining the 2008 Obama Campaign in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. He has overseen fundraising operations of New England candidates topping $5 million raised since 2013, served as Treasurer for local, statewide, and federal candidates, and developed mathematical equations to predict turnout, win count, and GOTV prioritization in multi-candidate races. Demmers Chast lives in Leominster with his wife and holds a Master's in Business Administration from Hult International Business School and a B.S. from Appalachian State University (and attended that one time it beat Michigan).

Jim Leahy

An avid soccer geek, Jim has been a player, coach, parent, administrator, referee and tv/radio broadcaster. Scott Ferson founded Liberty Square Group in 1999 and has grown it into one of the most prominent public relations firms in New England. As a public relations strategist, he has successfully navigated clients through high-profile issues such as when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was being rebuffed in siting its Boston Temple and when the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe was struggling to gain federal recognition. Columbia Gas engaged him in the aftermath of the Merrimack Valley gas explosions to work with the media. Stacey Monahan

Stacey Monahan is LSG's Managing Director for Government and Political Affairs. Over the last twenty years, Stacey has worked at the highest levels of state and federal government. Most recently, Stacey served as a Sr. Advisor for Senator Ed Markey's hotly contested re-election. Appointed by Governor Deval Patrick, Stacey served as the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance. She served as the chief of staff to the Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services from 2011 to 2013, managing the operations of the largest state secretariat with nearly 22,000 employees and a budget of more than $15 billion. Stacey was the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Democratic Party for four years, and was one of the chief architects of an election strategy that won every constitutional office, and 95% of legislative and county seats in 2010. She has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations, labor unions, community groups and stakeholders. She is known for her ability to quickly assess a problem or situation and develop and implement effective solutions.
