Gregory S. Marsiglia

Gregory S. Marsiglia joined Lowe Stein, LLC in 2005, having practiced law in New Orleans since 1997 in a variety of commercial, corporate, and general civil litigation, and in a variety of corporate, real estate, and business transactions. Mr. Marsiglia also advises corporate and commercial clients on formation and planning issues, internal governance, in a variety of contractual matters. Mr. Marsiglia also has extensive experience litigating succession, trust, and usufruct disputes. He advises and represents executors and other succession representatives, trustees and beneficiaries, and usufructuaries and naked owners, with a thorough understanding of the rights and obligations of each. Representative clients likewise include real estate developers, building contractors, manufacturers of engineered materials used in the building trades, landlords, and property owners concerning the laws relating to property, private contracting, and in litigation. Such representation includes litigation of property casualty claims against their insurers and construction lien and defect claims, whether on public or private projects. When representing the boards of condominiums and homeowners' associations, his advice and representation extends to the internal affairs and administration of such associations, and representing them in actions to recover assessments, and to enforce liens. In recent years, Mr. Marsiglia co-authors the Louisiana Civil Practice Forms (3d) of West Publishing's Louisiana Practice Series, which is published annually in book form by Thomson Reuters and electronically for Westlaw subscribers. These are practitioner's guides for other attorneys, in which Mr. Marsiglia writes the chapters devoted to execution of judgments and garnishment. His published work on these subjects remains current with annual updates. Mr. Marsiglia also serves by appointment of the Louisiana Supreme Court as an Assistant Bar Examiner on the subject of Business Entities and Negotiable Instruments. These examinations test the knowledge of applicants to the Louisiana Supreme Court for a license to practice law in Louisiana. Successful passage of the Louisiana Bar Exam is required for admission to the practice law. Mr. Marsiglia holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Juris Doctorate from Tulane University. His professional association memberships include the Louisiana State Bar and New Orleans Bar Associations, and he serves on the New Orleans Bar Association's Construction Law and Real Estate Committees. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Louisiana. Earlier in his career, Mr. Marsiglia engaged in the mortgage banking business as a principal in Amerivest Mortgage Corporation of Louisiana and as a real estate title attorney for Marsiglia Title Agency. His practice continues to draw on that experience in the representation of clients in secured transactions under state and federal mortgage laws and the uniform commercial code.

He also taught the Bar Review Course in Persons and Community Property at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University for many years. He is also a trained commercial mediator. Mr. Lowe also served in the United States Marine Corp. Reserve from 1971 to 1977. Mr. Lowe is the author of Louisiana Divorce (West Publishing Company), published in 1984, and revised annually.

Mark S. Stein

Mark S. Stein, a Board Certified Tax Specialist, practices in the tax, corporate and commercial law area, and has extensive experience in taxation, estate planning, successions, state and local tax matters, real estate, corporate, Limited Liability Company and entity formation and planning, and mergers and acquisitions. He represents individuals and local and national businesses and is recognized as one of the leading tax and business lawyers in the New Orleans legal community. Mr. Stein earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University, his law degree from Tulane University, and his master of law in taxation degree from New York University. During law school he was an editor of the Tulane Law Review and was a senior fellow in Legal Research and Writing. Mr. Stein graduated Cum Laude from Tulane Law School and received the Arthur Anderson NYU Tax Scholarship while a student at New York University. Mr. Stein has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Tulane University, teaching courses in the taxation of business enterprises. He is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, having served as chairman of the Committee of Taxation and the Taxation Specialization Board. Additionally, he was a member of the Committee on Bar Admissions and had primary responsibility for the corporations, partnerships and negotiable instruments sections of the Louisiana Bar Examination. He has served on the board of directors of various charitable organizations, including the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Firstline Schools, the Al Copeland Foundation, the Jewish Endowment Foundation, the Anti Defamation League, and Congregation Temple Sinai in New Orleans. Mr. Stein is a fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Max J. Cohen

Max J. Cohen has extensive experience in state and federal courts defending insurers in coverage disputes; defending businesses and individuals in personal injury, premises liability, products liability, and property damage cases; and defending insurance agents and brokers, whose conduct has been questioned. In all cases handled by Mr. Cohen, he is especially careful to develop a litigation plan that balances the desire for positive results with the cost of litigation. In an effort to manage defense costs, Mr. Cohen is willing to discuss alternative billing arrangements, including flat fee agreements. Mr. Cohen earned his undergraduate degree in 1983, with distinction, from The University of Michigan, where he was a member of the Men's Rowing Team and a member of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. Melanie C. Lockett is a civil litigator and Family Law Specialist, certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. Melanie enjoys a diverse litigation practice which includes family law, insurance coverage and defense, commercial litigation, and employment law. She is an experienced trial and appellate attorney. Melanie is an active member of the local and national legal communities. Locally, Melanie served as Chair of the New Orleans Bar Association's Minorities in the Law Committee. She is a member of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, A.P. Tureaud Inn of Court, and the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society. Paula H. Lee

Paula H. Lee practices in the areas of domestic and family law, and business litigation. In her domestic practice, she counsels individuals considering prenuptial agreements, divorce, child custody and support actions, and other related issues. She has extensive experience working within the bounds of the Louisiana family court system, and works closely with counselors, tax and financial consultants, and the client to ensure the best resolution for the client and family. Her business litigation experience includes handling civil rights suits and corporate disputes. Robert C. Lowe is a Board Certified Family Law Specialist with over 45 years of experience handling family law and other civil matters. He has distinguished himself as one of the preeminent family law attorneys in Louisiana, and is recognized locally and nationally as a leader in his practice area. Mr. Lowe is a member of the American, Louisiana, and New Orleans Bar Associations, Louisiana Law Institute (community property committee), the Louisiana Association of Justice, and is a past president of the Family Law Sections of the New Orleans Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, and the Louisiana Association of Justice.
