This is a blog about transmissions and differentials. In case you haven't heard of them, they are a technological marvel and an important part of every transmission in your car or truck. Just like an airbag in an automobile, a transmission system is designed to "breathe" and slow down so that power is not lost when changing directions. This is why they are called automatic... If you drive a car with a manual transmission (as most do), then chances are you have driven by a person who has asked, "Won't that be embarrassing when we go over that hill"? It sure would, especially if the person on the drive was trying to explain how a proper transmission works. If you have an automatic transmission, then you have experienced what is commonly referred to as a "dumb stick". You see, without the proper parts, it just doesn't work very well, and you can easily lose control of the car and cause an accident.
