Dr. Swaminathan's research interests include asset pricing, behavioral finance, market efficiency and stock valuation. His work has been published in major academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of Business and Journal of Portfolio Management. His work on valuing the Dow has won the Graham and Dodd Award of Excellence from the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR). At Cornell, Professor Swaminathan taught valuation, security analysis, and portfolio management. He was twice selected, "Teacher of the Year" by the 1995 and 1998 graduating class of MBA students. He was also awarded the "EMBA Globe Award for Teaching Excellence" by the 2004 EMBA class and was twice awarded the "Stephen Russell Distinguished Teaching Award" by the 2003 and 2005 Fifth Year MBA Reunion Classes.

Dr. Givoly is the Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting in the Smeal College of Business Chair at Penn State University. His research focuses on financial reporting and disclosures, effects of financial information on capital markets, valuation and analysts forecasts of earnings. Prior to joining Penn State, Professor Givoly taught at the University of California at Irvine, Columbia University, Northwestern University and Tel-Aviv University. He served as the Chairman of the Financial Standards Accounting Board in Israel (1996-99) and is a Certified Public Accountant (Israel). Professor Givoly is a member of the American Accounting Association, American Finance Association, and The Institute of Public Accounting - Israel. Harrison Hong, Ph.D. is the John R. Eckel Jr. Professor of Financial Economics at Columbia University. He was awarded the 2009 Fischer Black Prize by the American Finance Association, given biennially to a financial economics scholar under the age of 40 for significant original research that is relevant to finance practice. He received his B.A. in economics and statistics with highest distinction from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 and his Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997. He was previously a Professor of Economics and Finance at Princeton University and an Associate Professor of Finance at Stanford University, Graduate School of Business. Harrison will enhance LSV's research effort on a project basis and we look forward to his contributions to our research agenda. Harrison's research interests include behavioral finance and stock market efficiency, asset pricing and trading under market imperfections, incentives and biases in decision making and organizational form and performance.

Jason Karceski

Dr. Karceski's academic research focuses on equity trading strategies and risk control, the behavior of equity analysts, mutual funds, initial public offerings, bank mergers, and long-run performance measurement. He started working on research projects with Josef Lakonishok in 1994. Dr. Karceski's work has been published in top-tier finance journals (the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis) as well as practitioner-oriented journals such as the Financial Analysts Journal. His research has received awards from the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR), Barclays Global Investors (BGI), and Emerald Management Reviews (EMR). Dr. Karceski earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech in 1990, an M.B.A. from the University of North Florida in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1997.

Josef Lakonishok - CEO, Chief Investment Officer

Dr. Lakonishok is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of LSV Asset Management. He heads the research and investment team at LSV and is involved in all portfolio management and research functions. Dr. Lakonishok is a former William G. Karnes Professor of Finance at the College of Commerce & Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Lakonishok has more than 36 years of investment and research experience. Prior to assuming this position in 1987, he was a Professor of Finance at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. Before that, he held staff and visiting professorships at Tel Aviv University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of British Columbia. Dr. Lakonishok is one of the top contributors to major financial journals and has published more than 80 articles. His research covers such diverse areas as analyst forecasts, determinants of trading activity, execution cost measurement, performance evaluation, technical trading strategies, fundamental trading strategies, seasonality's in stock returns, size effect, and share repurchases. Dr. Lakonishok's work has received many awards, including the Roger F. Murray Award for the paper "Contrarian Investment, Extrapolation, and Risk", written with Drs. Shleifer and Vishny, and the American Association of Individual Investors Award for the article "Fundamentals and Stock Returns in Japan", written with Drs. Louis K. C. Chan and Yasushi Hamao. Dr. Lakonishok received a B.A. in Economics and Statistics from Tel Aviv University in 1970 and an M.B.A. from that university in 1972. He earned an M.S. in Business Administration in 1974 and a Ph.D. in Business Administration in 1976 from Cornell University.

Menno Vermeulen, CFA is a Partner, Portfolio Manager and Senior Quantitative Analyst at LSV Asset Management. Mr. Vermeulen has more than 22 years of investment experience and was one of the first employees of LSV Asset Management. Mr. Vermeulen has a long history of working closely with Dr. Lakonishok. Prior to joining LSV, he worked at ABP, the largest pension plan in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Mr. Vermeulen worked closely with Dr. Lakonishok to apply some of his academic theories initially to the Dutch equity market. At LSV Asset Management, Menno Vermeulen is a leader and an active member of our quantitative and implementation team, which is responsible for the day-to-day data management, portfolio implementation and ongoing enhancement of our models and systems. Mr. Vermeulen works closely with Josef and is actively involved in the research process at LSV Asset Management. He holds a master's degree in Econometrics from Erasmus University at Rotterdam.
