LOW CARBON CITIES

The CFCB program was established in February 2009 where representatives from 20 megacities convened in Basel to launch this initiative aimed at reducing GHG emissions in megacities of the South while simultaneously providing the know-how and tools that help countries develop sustainably. Through the CFCB programme cities in developing and emerging countries get support in reducing or avoiding GHGs. Particularly they learn how to plan and structure the city and infrastructure development projects as high-quality carbon reduction projects. This allows them to generate carbon finance revenue by participating in the global carbon market.
