John Egerton is an experienced legal search consultant specialising in the placement of in-house lawyers at all levels across a variety of industry sectors. He has also recruited lawyers for major law firms both domestically and internationally.
In addition, he successfully places lawyers for government departments, public sector organisations, not-for-profit groups and universities. He is also involved in the recruitment of company secretaries, corporate governance and compliance professionals as well as contract managers and quasi legal roles.

Nick is a Director at Mahlab in Sydney. Nick has substantial legal executive search experience and has led many General Counsel and senior in-house searches for Australian and international corporations across a broad range of industries.
Nick graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 2007 and began his career as a lawyer in private practice. He has subsequently worked for leading international legal search firms in Australia and Asia, before joining Mahlab in 2018.
Nick is Mahlab's resident fitness fanatic and can regularly be found escaping from the office for a lunchtime workout.

Nicola Phillips has been at Mahlab since 1999. Her specialisation is in-house search, placing senior lawyers into in-house roles in the private and public sector, including executive leadership general counsel roles.
Her search capability also covers company secretary and governance professionals. Nicola partners closely with her clients to understand their business and commercial goals. She digs deep into the market to find the best fit for her client.
Prior to joining Mahlab, Nicola worked for several years as a judges associate and a solicitor at King & Wood Mallesons. As a former lawyer, she thoroughly enjoys working with the profession.
Nicola enjoys very longstanding relationships with many of her candidates. Together, they map out their career journey and work collaboratively as she guides them toward appropriate roles. Many of her former candidates are now her clients.
In addition to search and sourcing, she provides a broad range of consulting services to her corporate and government clients: advice on sourcing strategy and methodology, remuneration benchmarking, in-house legal team structures, talent management and talent pipeline, retention strategies and "state of the market" assessments of the legal industry Australia wide.
As General Manager of Mahlab's Melbourne office, Suzanne is responsible for a range of strategic business and management functions.
Suzanne also conducts interview preparation sessions for candidates and offers resume and career advice to law undergraduates, newly admitted lawyers right through to senior lawyers and overseas qualified lawyers seeking to relocate to Australia.
Before joining Mahlab in January 2001, Suzanne was the Human Resources Director of Sly & Weigall, later to become the international firm Norton Rose Fulbright, and was responsible for the HR function of the firm's Melbourne office. Prior to that she worked for Mobil Oil in a number of Employee Relations roles including a two year secondment in London as the Human Resources Manager of a service company working throughout the UK and Europe. Suzanne began her legal career at Corr & Corr, now the national firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth.
Suzanne has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne. She undertook the Williamson Community Leadership Program in 2000 and in later years served as a committee member of the Leadership Victoria Fellows' Group and as a council member of Leadership Victoria.
