Gina Simmons Schneider, Ph.D., is co-director of Schneider Counseling and Corporate Solutions. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and certified coach with over 25 years of experience providing counseling, coaching, training, and consulting services for organizations, individuals, and families in San Diego County. Her book, Frazzlebrain: Break Free from Anxiety, Anger, and Stress Using Advanced Discoveries in Neuropsychology (Central Recovery Press, March 2022), provides evidence-based coping strategies to foster calm resilience. Dr. Simmons Schneider writes helpful articles for Psychology Today and the award-winning M.A.D. blog with Jay Schneider, L.C.S.W. The Manage Anger Daily blog provides information about conflict, anger, and stress management, as well as topical stories on other mental health issues. Dr. Simmons Schneider is certified in Neuroscience for Clinicians through PESI and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing through National Trauma Services. She has provided consulting, training, and debriefing services for numerous organizations in the San Diego County Area. (see list) Dr. Simmons Schneider completed the 9-week Compassion Cultivation Training developed by the Stanford School of Medicine and the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). She also completed an additional 8-week course in Mindful Self-Compassion. Inspired by the life-changing impact of compassion cultivation, she incorporates mindfulness and compassion cultivation techniques in her work with individuals, couples, and organizations so that others can achieve positive, life-affirming results. Dr. Simmons's article "Does Violent Media Cause Aggression?" appears in the volume, At Issue: Is Media Violence a Problem?, Vol. 2, published by Gale: Cengage Learning, May 2010. You can also read her tribute story in Heart of a Military Woman: Stories and Tributes to Those Who Serve Our Country, winner in the Spiritual/Inspirational category from the San Diego Book and Writing Association Awards (2009). Dr. Simmons also contributes to Women In Crime Ink, dubbed by the Wall Street Journal "A blog worth reading," and the Forbes.com blog Crime, She Writes, sharing psychology research on crime and media issues. She's been quoted in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and the San Diego Union-Tribune. She was interviewed for the BBC World Service program, How to Be Angry, by Laurence Knight. She also contributes to online media shows discussing a variety of mental health topics. Dr. Simmons Schneider offers career guidance to help those in need of career direction and inspiration. This program includes testing to determine aptitudes, interests, and personality traits to identify a fulfilling career. As a member of the Employee Assistance Professional Association, she has served as the chair of the Treatment Committee. She has provided speaking, training, and coordinating services for several EAPA events. Former adjunct faculty in psychology at San Diego City College, she provides community service programs throughout San Diego, including the San Diego Writers Festival. Her professional affiliations include the American Psychological Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and the Professional Coaches Alliance. She sings and plays bass guitar for the "One Track Mind" rock band. They have performed for several charitable and fundraising events in San Diego County.
