Anna Sever

Anna Sever serves as the president of Magellan Federal. Ms. Sever's expansive experience as a healthcare and social services executive comes with over 20 years of progressive management responsibilities including spearheading growth and new business initiatives with Federal contractors. Prior to joining Magellan, Ms. Sever was responsible for new business development, capture management and program development for County, State, and Federal governments in the following areas: Medicaid and Medicare, behavioral health, child welfare and developmental disabilities. She also led Maximus' Health Business Development division and grew the organization from 100 million to just shy of a billion dollars. Ms. Sever was instrumental in Maximus' work with the VA on key programs such as Community Care Network (now Mission Act), CDC Info and CMS Eligibility Appeals Operations Support. She has also served as a gubernatorial appointee in an Umbrella Health and Welfare agency where she was responsible for the operations of a 350 million segment of the Department of Health and Welfare as well as over 300 employees. Ms. Sever is a military spouse who received her BA cum Laude from Davidson College, her Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina and her Certification in Gerontology from the University of South Carolina. She has worked in Federal and State government contracting for the last two decades and recently joined the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

Derrick Duke - CEO

Derrick Duke is the chief executive officer of Magellan Health, a leader in managing the fastest growing, most complex areas of health, including special populations, and offering an insightful portfolio of broad solutions focused on population health, condition management and meeting the specific needs of our clients. He is responsible for Magellan's strategic direction and overall growth, as well as the development and operational execution of the Company's business strategy. Duke joined Magellan Health in 2020 as Chief Risk Officer, a role he held until January of 2022 when he took on the role of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the finance organization, business transformation office, information technology and behavioral health network and clinical operations. From 2004-2019, he held multiple leadership roles at HealthMarkets, one of the largest health insurance agencies and ancillary insurance product underwriters in the U.S. Most recently, Duke served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer from 2015 until the sale of the company to UnitedHealth Group in 2019. In previous HealthMarkets leadership roles, Duke had oversight of finance, actuarial, customer service, information technology and underwriting. He also held the role of chief investment officer for 15+ years. Before joining HealthMarkets, Duke served as executive vice president and chief investment officer of National Health Insurance, now a subsidiary of Allstate Insurance. He has a bachelor's degree in finance from Hardin Simmons University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Caroline Carney

Dr. Caroline Carney is a board-certified internist and a board-certified psychiatrist. She joined Magellan Health in 2016 and serves as Magellan Health's President of Behavioral Health and Chief Medical Officer. Her previous experience includes the role of SVP Chief Medical Officer of Magellan Behavioral Health and Magellan Specialty Health. She served as the chief medical officer for regional health plans where she gained experience in Medicaid, Medicare, Exchange, and commercial populations. She has served as the medical director for the Indiana Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning, helping to launch the Medicaid expansion product as well as the behavioral health transformation for the state's community mental health services. While in Indiana, she served on the Governor's Mental Health Commission. She is a frequent speaker about behavioral health services, integrated and collaborative care, and the importance of self-care during the pandemic. Dr. Carney is a published author and co-author for over 100 peer and non-peer reviewed publications focusing on issues surrounding comorbid medical and behavioral health conditions. She was a tenured associate professor of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Indiana University. She started her medical and academic career at the University of Iowa where she earned her medical degree, as well as a master's degree, and directed the Med-Psych residency program. She continues to engage in regular clinical work through supporting the behavioral health team at a federally qualified health center.

Erin Kirchhardt

Erin Kirchhardt oversees the full suite of human resource functions and corporate communications supporting all of Magellan Health's businesses. Kirchhardt drives the human capital strategy for all areas within Magellan totaling over 7,000 employees across the United States and Canada. She also leads a staff of over 90 human resources and corporate communication professionals and is the executive sponsor of Magellan's affinity group, Women in Technology. With over 25 years of experience, Kirchhardt joined Magellan in 2017 as vice president of human resources responsible for the corporate functions. She became senior vice president in 2018 and in 2019 her role expanded to include the Behavioral and Specialty businesses.  Kirchhardt spent the past five years at Magellan focused on advancing the strategic partnership between human resources and business outcomes.  This includes advancing people strategies, driving human capital initiatives, diversified talent acquisition engagement,  enriching the talent management strategy with the business cycle, driving the realignment of information technology and clinical operations areas while aligning the development process to succession and talent management strategies. Prior to joining Magellan, Kirchhardt was director of human resources for Tech Data, Inc; a.k.a. Avnet, Inc., a Florida-based American multinational distribution company specializing in IT products and services. At Tech Data, Inc., Kirchhardt was responsible for strategic human resource business partnerships for Avnet's Technical Services North America division. Prior to joining Tech Data, Inc., Kirchhardt spent 11 years with CVS/Caremark Rx, Inc. where she managed business planning, employee relations while balancing employee advocacy with business needs for 3,500 employees in exempt and non-exempt groups. At CVS/Caremark Rx, Kirchhardt held a variety of human resource and recruitment leadership positions. Kirchhardt received her bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Lee Ellen Meiss - COO

Lee Ellen Meiss serves as the chief operating officer of Magellan Health with operational oversight of all Magellan Healthcare businesses. She is responsible for Magellan Healthcare operations, strategic transformational initiatives, operational efficiencies, and continuous improvement. Meiss has more than 30 years of expertise in healthcare services, specializing in strategy, operational performance and effectiveness, customer service, training, end-to-end quality, implementations, leadership, and resource management. Meiss supported the establishment of the Magellan Cares Foundation, previously serving as the President of the Board of Directors and Executive Director. Previously, Meiss was the Vice President of Operations for Merit Behavioral Health. In this position, she was responsible for the implementation of new business and the day-to-day operations of regional service centers. Prior to Merit, Meiss was the Director of Operations for Universal Care, an HMO in California covering commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lives. While at Universal Care, she was responsible for the daily operations of 13 staff model medical groups, program development, training, and implementation of new services. Meiss attended Indiana University and California State University. She has a bachelor's degree in science with emphasis on healthcare administration. She has attended executive education programs at Stanford University and University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School.

Michael McQuillen - Chief Legal Officer, SVP

Michael McQuillen serves as general counsel for Magellan Health. In this role, he is the Centene legal department lead responsible for directing Magellan's legal activities, and for providing legal counsel to Magellan's CEO and leadership team. McQuillen began his tenure at Magellan in 1998 and has served as general counsel since 2022. Prior to joining Magellan, McQuillen practiced in-house at Manor Care, Inc., a public owner, developer and operator of skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care facilities, and was an associate at a major law firm focused on litigation. McQuillen has a bachelor's degree from Boston College and earned his juris doctor from The George Washington University Law School.

Teresa Berman - Chief Compliance Officer

Teresa Berman is the chief compliance officer of Magellan Health. In this role she leads the corporate compliance department for Magellan and is responsible for maintaining a compliance program that follows the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General seven elements of an effective compliance program. She also oversees the company HIPAA privacy program and the statutory and regulatory compliance guidance that is provided by the corporate compliance team to the company. Berman began her tenure at Magellan in 2000 and has served as the chief compliance officer since 2022. Before assuming her current role, Berman served as the deputy chief compliance officer for Magellan. Berman has over 25 years of significant leadership experience in compliance program structure and management, corporate governance, healthcare company licensing, regulatory diligence, healthcare law, and risk management. Prior to joining Magellan, Berman was the director of health policy and reimbursement for the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (now the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association). Berman earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her juris doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Teresa Medley - CFO

Teresa Medley serves as the chief financial officer for Magellan Healthcare. Since 2017, she has served as a senior vice president of finance for Magellan Health and became the CFO of Magellan's behavioral health and specialty business in 2021. Medley oversees all of the business finance functions for the BSH business, including financial management, pricing/underwriting, medical economics, and strategic planning. She also directs budgeting and financial management processes for Magellan's corporate functional areas. Joining Magellan in 2009, she previously served as the Treasurer, Chief of Staff, vice president of corporate planning, director of investor relations and the director of underwriting at Magellan. Prior to joining Magellan, Medley held a number of progressively responsible finance roles at Healthways (now Tivity Health) and held several roles in finance and marketing at Cole Managed Vision (now part of EyeMed Vision Care). Medley earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Allegheny College.

Tom Britt - CIO

Tom Britt is the chief information officer of Magellan Health, a leader in managing the fastest growing, most complex areas of health, including special populations, and offering an insightful portfolio of broad solutions focused on population health, condition management, and meeting the specific needs of our clients. He is responsible for creating, developing, and implementing Magellan's information technology strategy and leveraging digital solutions and best practices while delivering data-enhanced products and services through innovative technology platforms. Britt has over 25 years of significant leadership experience in building innovative digital products and solutions while leading high performing technology organizations. Prior to joining Magellan, Britt served as the regional vice president of digital technologies at Centene where he was responsible for application delivery across all customer-facing digital channels, utilizing web, mobile, cloud, and call center technologies while also diffusing modern software development practices throughout the organization. Prior to his role at Centene, Britt held key senior leadership roles at Mastercard where he oversaw the end-to-end delivery of digital and technology initiatives. Britt earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University and his master's degree in Business Administration from the Olin School of Business, Washington University.
