SEDS was established in the year 2007 by the promoters of G.T.R. Campbell Marine Consultants Ltd. ("GTRC") after being encouraged by the success of their ‘Trader' series (30,000 DWT Bulk Carriers, built among others, at CSL, Kochi). In the international shipbuilding industry, GTRC is well known as the designer who brought series production to commercial shipbuilding with their Freedom design providing the template for an unequaled 172 vessels (built between 1965 and 1978) and becoming an enduring icon of series ship production. GTRC was involved in design and construction of over 400 vessels in various Japanese shipyards in the 1960s to 1980s... SEDS provides complete design solutions from concept to production of ocean going, coastal, inland, and naval vessels. Its Indian subsidiary, Smart Engineering & Design Solutions (India) Private Limited was incorporated in 2013.
