Mavoko water and sewerage company limited (MAVWASCO) was formed in the year 2006 inline with the water sector reforms as enshrined in the water act 2002.The company has a service provision agreement (SPA) with Tanathi water works development agency and is licensed and regulated by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) to supply water within its specified area of jurisdiction which includes Syokimau, Mlolongo, Athiriver, Kinanie and Kyumbi areas of Mavoko Sub-county. The company has a functional board of directors constituted from key stakeholders within the service area. The county government of Machakos has 100% shareholding of the company.
